Lee

Generally throughs dogs that will trail up a coon more than most walkers, cutover and rough country dont matter. They are generally more naturally accurate then most walkers. They generally have big Bawl mouths on track and a Steady chop on tree. They are one man dogs and want to please their owner. A lot of them will shut up and watch for the coon once you get there. The one fault they have for competition is that they are not mean, to a fault. they will not tree with a mean dog and might not even hunt with one. If you get one that will you generally have something Nice. I have saw a lot of Lee dogs that Hardly ever Missed. I have had 4 or 5.

You cant beat on them like a lot of walkers if you Yell at them it is enough to get your point across. The ones I had I loved when I was hunting bymyself but would not impress your hunting buddies. I had one that was the real deal all around but she was lost or stolen about a year and a half ago. 45 pound female, Blanket back black and white, Real Classy Coon Dog. Lost in HolyCross Ky. Memorial day Weekend not this year but last. Answers to Chiggers. 1OOO dollar REWARD for Safe Return.

to lee for years tough as a pine knot delux track dog solid tree dog with a voice pitched to carry alot further than you think it would and fassssssssssssssssssssst on track on the down side would run the crap out of a yote on the up side of that dog you could breed him to a poodle and get something that would tree a coon .

I hunted with a half brother to Lee (Babes Stylish Banjo x Lee's Mamma) and he was almost exactly like Chiggers described the Lee dogs in his post above. He would also "bird dog" on a tree once you got there. If you couldn't find the coon, stop and see where the dog was looking, saw him do it multiple times. He was a real nice hound, but couldn't handle hunting with strange males, not rough, just seemed to blow his mind. Very balanced in hunt, track, and tree with brains to boot.

Keeping the good stuff around!

Would love to talk with anyone that has any Brookshier bred hounds out there. They are getting harder and harder to find and they are the total package...Uncle Lee had a brother anybody know of any sons ,grandsons ,off him...
Open for any discussion on Brookshier bred hounds....I have a male and female directly out of Uncle Lee...getting some age on them...10 yrs old...have several line bred on old Lee, sons ,daughters, grandsons and daughters...

Chiggers, hit the nail on the head, he explained this line of Dogs to a T...I love them ,have tried a lot of other stuff but nothing is like old faithful...(Brookshier Bred COON DOGS!)
Still try other stuff on accasion ,always lookin for that perfect outcross or stacking the deck by line breeding..
Several line bred crosses being made this yr,just waiting on females as always..hahaha
1 or 2 out crosses will be made also.
Bred a line bred Daughter of Brookshiers Finley River Driver to a Son of Durbins Rambler ,this should be an outstanding cross but you never know..Both lines are super track dogs,super fast on the ground,big mouths, and good tree dogs..just have to wait and see...High Hopes!

thats the result of over line breeding along with the physical defects seen in alot of todays flavor of the month dogs.

PS If your dog doesn't have people scratching their heads about what kind of a track its running, if he can't run tracks their dogs can't open on, or he can't tree 1 /4 mile ahead of those dogs that are standing on their heads, in my opinion you have a slow track dog.

Mr.Starke,
Hello,hope all is well with you and yours..Hope your getting some hunting in between all the snow flakes..
Back to Track dogs and the speed they run it in....I personally have had several real good track dogs,way above average...But , I have only ever had (1) Track dog with the speed you are talking about....A dog that cuts and slashes through the timber, flying so fast you would swear he's got a deers tail just out of reach..Treeing so far ahead of the other dogs in your cast everyone thought they was running a completely different track..Untill they ended up at the same tree!...I've had only one Track dog of this caliber...
Like I said ,I've had quite a few super track dogs,and faster than most I've hunted with.But ,only one that had the foot speed to actually run a Deer down, and that's no lie I have witnesses....
So hopefully with one of these crosses we will again have a Track dog with the speed that most have never experienced......good hunting to all...

Thanks for the pics History Nut,...Brings a smile to my face every time I see old picks of old Uncle Lee, and many others that I was lucky enough to hunt with and handle for Mr.Brookshier in yrs past..
I used to stay with my Uncle Don a lot when I was younger ,and Mr.Brookshier lived with in walking distance. needless to say I spent a lot of time down at The Brookshier house...and hunted with him a lot....That's been almost 20 yrs ago and I'm still following Brookshier Bred hounds to this day...
