It is getting close to the opening of season on the north unit. How is the water level?

Close North at 26 feet. River supposed crest on 15th at 23.6 and start falling.

IF YOU NEVER BEEN TO THE WHITE RIVER,GO!!!

IT IS ONE OF GODS GIFTS TO COONHUNTERS

I have went down for several years, even when everyone said don’t go the water too high

I have never been in water over knee deep

I have yet to have water play any issue or keep me away from dogs. Some have I know

But,if you look at Garmin and don’t turn loose on them sloughs that it shows you and the dog has actual coon treeing on its mind that place is paradise

Can't go this year, maybe I could go with you sometime or meet up down there and hunt a night or two in the next year or so. Would be nice to have someone with previous experience to lean in for advice. Dave

Beautiful big river bottoms. Only open a short time every year so coons are thick. It was way better before it was publicized in cooner and bloodlines. You could tree 100 on a weekend and not hear another dog.

I kind of wondered how much it hurt the coon population with so many more people hunting it now that they knew about it.

Jeff

I am 71 years old and have hunted in some real good spots, but NEVER hunted in a place that good. I sure would have liked to have hunted there in those days. It must have been a paradise for coon. May have to put this place in my bucket list, it takes hunting 5 to 6 nights a week for 2 months or longer in these parts to tree a hundred coons and that's with a real coon dog. Dave

I have treed 20 and quit before midnight. Last couple of years the hunting has not been as good. Load your dogs and come to Arkansas. Be sure and spend lots of money.

Hunting may not be as good as in the past but it still beats most places people hunt. Time it right and hunts ducks during the day and coons at night. Stuttgart Chamber of Commerce will have list of Duck hunting outfitters. Casinos not that far, so there is plenty to do for everybody. Macks Prairie Wings has great shopping for the wife. Come to Arkansas and check it out. Some locals love out of state hunters. I dont think you will be disappointed.

Mike

You make a good spokesman for Arkansas Chamber of Tourism, glad to see someone who is happy to share with others and who IS NOT jealous of out of state hunters. Thank you. Dave
