Lonesome

Lonesome, was born and raised, by Lucian Bashford, of Seaman,Ohio, his mother was a registered black&tan, his daddy a spotted walker looking hound. He was black headed, and mostly white, he had small ticks, all over him. He was probably the very finest, competition dog, i ever hunted with. He hunted wide, back when our dogs, didn't hunt very wide, had a real pretty, rolling bawl mouth, sit at the base of the tree, and rolled his mouth over. He hunted him at the ACHA World Hunt, and won his casts, every night, never lost, but at that time, they didn't go by cast wins. I was 16 years old, i hunted him one summer, i caused him to lose one cast, i didn't call him, the only cast lost out of 6 or 7 and it was my fault . He single registered him, i should have bred, my female to him, instead, i bred to Cox's Cannon Ball, we got two real, good dogs, both males, there was only two males, in the litter, of the females, there was only two, that made good dogs, so out of a litter of 9 pups, 4 would tree their own coon, 5 would not. I thought, all should have made good dogs.

The reason, i said he was probably the very finest competion dog, i'd ever seen go, was he'd get 1st stricke on a red fox, get every dog on the cast running it, then after around 1/4 of a mile drop it and go tree a coon, real pressure tree dog, would not pull. He was smart, could tree cold coons or hot ones.
