11(c) Handling Dogs
“Judge SHALL give handler permission to handle dog on split tree”. Does this mean judge has to give permission?
You have three dogs in front of you treed 700 yards and another treed 0.60 mile the opposite direction. I’m sorry there is a small handful of people I’d trust to let handle a dog by themselves in a big hunt that far away from the cast. Not to mention, when cast gets split up that far apart only bad things can happen.
Judge has to grant permission!

Is that "has to grant permission" before you can or "has to grant permission" can't keep you from doing it?
As long as the cast has a majority to score a tree and or isn't in the process of scoring a tree a judge has to let a handler go to his dog if the tree is dead.

Not true. Trees will be scored in order, unless all dogs are treed and then you can score them out of order. And all handlers have to be at the tree to score the tree, unless a non hunting judge is being used.

quote:Look at the definition of shall, either you are wrong or UKC is using the word shall improperly.
