Wolfs Kill Hound Durring U.k.c Hunt In Mn!!

on Sat Aug 18th durring a U.K.C hunt my hound was killed by two FEDERALY PROTECTED WOLFS and then we was being stalked by them and just lucky we wasn't attacked and we all know you can't carry a gun durring a U.K.C or get barred but I have to ask where do we draw the line??? is a gun at lest in the truck ok??? and as far as what the DNR and feds said is that because this was the first attack and there hasn't been a problem befor that they aren't even sending out trapers or shooters to take care of them!!! so does this mean they're just going to keep looking away till to many get killed or what will it take??? a human? a child? I mean we are all so scared now that none of us wanta cut a hound loose and we surely can't take kids...which are the future of this sport....SOMETHING HAS TO BE DONE!!!!!! just I have no idea where to start (but have a few people helping).

THIS IS WHAT HAPPENS WHEN THE FEDEARL GOVERMENT DON'T CARE WHAT HAPPENS TO OUR HOUNDS!!!!!

I read about this on Facebook. I am so very sorry about your loss. What a horrifying thing to experience on a hunt and not be able to protect your hounds nor yourselves for that matter.

I am so very sorry that all that hard work was stripped from you and your hound like that...Very sad.

this didn't happen at zones just a normal UKC hunt...but who knows what could've happend...and to think we could've had kids with us and can't even protect ourselfs or them or get barred...i understand why some rules are implyed but where do we draw the line when your life could be in danger....but just the way I feel...don't mean it's right

start one heck of a petition to your rep, good luck with that, and you know what to do after that.

Jim, don't think we're safe down here cause we're not. They come through the area more than you think. May have to upgrade to a 22 mag.

Here when the yotes start packing I run those tracker lights on mine. It seems to help. I think I would shoot as many as I could when I could to keep them shy or run a wolf hound with my dogs if the lights don't work.

Hey Jim~ I read an article about a collared Timber released in Upper MI.. and was tracked to MO.. so they are traveling..
Chris let me know what i can do to help~ Im planning on splashing the story in the news up here to get more people motivated up here to do something about the wolves~ this will be a good eye opener for those bow hunters, bear hunter and deer hunters in MN~ Let me know when your ready to talk to the reporter~ We also have a radio announcer that deer hunts with us that would love to do this story when ever your ready~

you can thank the Humane Society of the United States, Sierra Club and a few other self-proclaimed "animal rights" groups that insisted we keep the wolves on the protected list.

We have a few wolves here in the northern lower peninsula of Michigan and the pack is growing. The DNR knows it and seems to like the idea. I personally hate wolves in areas they don't belong. Not because I'm ignorant but because I know how destructive they are. We keep forgetting that our great-grandfathers knew more than we did and they saw fit to wipe them out. We don't want them, we don't need them. I'm as law abiding as anyone you'll ever meet but I told the DNR that I'll kill every wolf I see.

Chris
Sorry to hear of your loss, I had a nice female walker get killed by wolves a couple of years back when I was out cat hunting. It sure is a tough pill to swallow when we can do nothing to protect our hounds from them, it seems that the D.N.R. does not care about hunting dogs at all, there only concern is to keep shutting down more of the public land down so no one can access or enjoy it. My condolences go out to you.

Posted by bandithunter on 09-21-2010 08:16 PM:

Jim, untill very recently I worked with a hard core yote hunter who called in two last winter. Spoke with the land owner and he told me he seen em a lot. Just north of Lake City. Right in the dead of winter.

A pair of timber wolves will kill a pack of coonhounds, coyote dogs, or any other kind of dogs you want to use. For people who have never seen a timber wolf the males will waigh from 140 to 175# and females weigh 110 to 130#. They are born killers and the only enemy they have in the lower 48 are humans. By law we can not kill them even to protect our property. Wolves will and are, I believe, are loosing their fear of humans because of this and sooner or later there will be someone killed. It already happened in Alaska this year.

Most will. Problem is when they catch them they usually end up dead. Most of the time timbers run in packs of 2 to 6 and even 2 will kill a pack of coyote dogs.

wolfs

there's a web site www.regulations.gov and then in the search box type in [FWS-R3-ES-2010-0062] it's a place to post comment on delisting the wolfs...the thing that I don't get is that in some states you get paid for of a "pet" and other you don't...they told me it's not livestock so I don't get a cent yet hounds get killed in another state and you can get over $2500....i could care less about the money just it's messed up..and it's NOT just hounds it's for ANY pet!!!!!! and wolfs can attack at anytime...you could be out for a walk and BANG there's wolf comming for your bird dog or duck dog or anything!!!!! they HAVE to be but to a end...and soon!!!!! this can't go on till someone gets hurts...what if we'd of had a kid along with us...it that what we really want kids to think hunting is all about!!!!!! IT'S TIME FOR CHANGE!!!!!
