Year old cur
Have a year old cur. Treed squirrel back in October. Wasn’t able to get it out to him. Have taken him 30 times since then, no trees. I have seen squirrels since that time but he has not treed them. Hunts good but like I said no trees. At what point do you guys move on or would you just keep hunting him.
Sometimes dogs have "it" and sometimes they don't.
Some folks on here would say to you that at a year its to late for that dog and to move on. Some would tell you that a year is to soon to give up and to keep at it.
I would tend to agree with the latter, if the pup has at least some interest in squirrels.
If it were my dog, Id keep at it a while longer and keep taking it out. get it really excited about squirrels, let it have a couple, and get it on some trees. It could help if you have another dog that is a good squirrel dog to take it out with and show it the ropes.
