Q&A's - Placing Dogs in Events

Placing Dogs in Events:

Each event will place up to three dogs, based on highest cast-win scores of both divisions (Registered or Champions). However, clubs may choose to place more than three dogs for further recognition and award purposes. Otherwise, any additional cast winners will be noted on the Event Report as a Cast Winner. Dog must have a total score of plus points to be considered a cast winner, unless otherwise noted.

a. Performance points are issued to the top three placements at each event. The number of points awarded is based on the total entry of both divisions (REG, CH/GRCH).

The maximum number of Performance points that may be awarded for each placement is:
a. 1st – 2 points.
b. 2nd – 1 point.
c. 3rd - .5 point.

Ask your questions here as they relate specifically to this topic. We'll try to answer them in a timely manner. Thanks.

Will each division have 3 placements or will there be just 3 placements combined ? Say you have 3 champion cast winners and a reg cast winner but the 3 champion cast winners scores are higher does that mean the reg cast doesnt get a placement ?

Good question and it is one that will be different that what we've been used to.

One reason we still need to award at least three placements at each event is for Performance Points purposes. However, the top three placements will now come from either category and based on the highest scores. In your example, if the three Champion scores were the highest, then those three winners are the ones that would place first, second and third. Any additional plus-point cast winners would also be noted on the Event Report but only for the purpose of their cast win going towards their championship.

That said, a club may recognize or award as many placements as they want even though the Event Report will only reflect three.

For instance, you may see UKC award 15 or 20 placements each night at the Winter Classic, or, we may decide to award 10 in Registered and 10 in the Champions Category. The point is; we have options and it's up to us to decide, just like any club, state, or breed association.

Regardless, the Event Report each night for the Winter Classic will reflect the 1st, 2nd, and 3rd highest scoring dogs that will come from both categories.

Trying to understand this one, is this "JUST FOR" performance points only? So if u have 8 cast of reg dogs and say 6 cast of Champions and all come back with cast wins 'ONLY TOP 3" get performance points but the rest would still be credited with a cast win towards their degree title?

How many dogs will it take to be awarded 2 performance points at a event ?
Is it still going to be 20 ?

if only 1 dog shows up at a hunt and finishes with + points that would be a first place placement and 2 performance points . lol

Correct. The top three is based off three highest scores from both categories.

And yes, the rest are credited with a CW towards their championship degree.

It would take a total of 20 dogs entered in the hunt (includes both registered and champions category) to give the First-Place winner 2 PRP points.

The cap will remain at 2 pts for first as it is currently.

What if 1or2 or all 3 high scoring dogs are not paid up in proformance?

Then they would not receive the points available for those three placements.

But does highest score dog that is performanced move up to get the points from that hunt or just no points are awarded?

No points awarded for that placement awarded to a non-PRP dog.

So say at a State hunt you have 12 reg cast and 5 Ch cast and all cast come back with + point cast winner do all 17 cast winners get a win toward next title?

Looks like the M.O,H. will be busy with his pen at the end of some larger hunts like breed and state lots of writing or will they be sending score cards in for ukc to take care of the c.w credits?

The officials will like the new reports. Less writing needed.

So top 3 can come from either group? Kinda sucks that you can be top in champions and get no points. Or vice versa
