Aggressive behavior
Can a dog be scratched for biting a handler?
NO
No! but why would anyone hunt a dog that would do that.. Breakem! your dog gets out yard and bites neighbor whos faught is it. there is problems hunting this type dog can cause legal issues for the handler..jmo

It kinda made me mad then , but I laugh bout it now. Had a black dog bite me one night in a hunt. I told the handler his dog bit me , he said he does that. Mine will get a knot up side his head if he bites me.
my bad. I thought you meant he bite the handler himself ! why not scratch him for biting others! he absolutely is aggressive and health issue to others in cast. scratch them and let master of hounds and ukc deal with the problem. no place for pitbulls in a hunt.

Buy the rules you can't Scratch him for biting a person only a dog in the cast.
quote:no but you can make him wish he never entered that dog in a hunt. after he gets a bill from hospital after receiving shots and the problems it would cause him.

The reason you can't scratch him for biting a handler is because it is a legal issue and legal issues are different from state to state so UKC lets each state handle that situation.
If they don't get involved then they have no liability and everything falls back to the state/county where it happened.

Two elements are required to scratch a dog from a hunt for fighting at a tree.
#1 Is aggressive behavior, but aggressive behavior alone is not enough, if my understanding of the interpretation is correct, it also require element #2;
#2- Interference with another dogs ability to tree.
If an aggressive dog on a tree is not interfering with the other dogs ability to tree, then you are required to disregard that aggressive behavior. While Biting another handler/spectator is not a scratchabe offense, it is a legal offense in some states.

No you can scratch them for fighting. Fighting and aggressive behavior or two different things. Fighting in at the tailgate after the judge has the scorecard is a scratch.

Face barking, growling, etc, is aggressive behavior. When teeth are used, that's fighting, even if the other dog doesn't retaliate.

There has to be an interference you can’t scratch a dog for biting a handler you can’t scratch them for fighting at the club house, you can’t scratch them for fighting in the box and you can’t scratch them if both dogs are handled and leashed. There has to be aggressive behavior
Unfortunate that you are wrong Dalton. Anytime they bite a dog they can be scratched while under the authority of the judge from the time the judge takes the scorecard to when it is turned in. Now aggressive behavior facebarking, growling ect has to cause interference or they are not scratched.

There’s a difference between a dog biting and someone getting too close to a dog tied back or while handling an intense tree dog at the tree.

I guess it want be hard to find out the aggressive one if that happens. The handler needs to be light broke where he want get caught.
