They have their advantages and dis advantages.

On one hand it's nice to get some pay-back on your win, but on the other hand it kind of wastes a 1st place win because performance points are not awarded.

I also like how I can hunt my Grand Nites in them when their is one close by.

Our club hosts 3 of them each year, 2 of which are qualifiers and one regular one. The biggest advantage that I can see is that it makes coming up with enough guides much easier since everyone draws together. Hoosier man hit on some disadvantages, I would add that if you're hunting an open reg. dog the competition can be a little tough if you happen to draw out with a cast full of titled dogs.
Overall I think the advantages out weigh the disadvantages and they have worked well for our club and several others in this area.

2ayear

I was told by ukc you can only have oneQualifier a year?

Posted by Cowboyred on 08-23-2013 03:38 AM:

An approved club can host 2 SLAM Qualifiers per year or a total of 3 SLAM hunts.

prize money

UKC sends you a break down of the payout, depending on the entry fee and how many dogs enter hunt.
