-- Scoring question. (http://forums.ukcdogs.com/showthread.php?threadid=928507902)

Scoring question.

GrNtCh 3 dog cast non hunting judge.
Dogs ABC struck, dog A trees, after the 5 we go to the tree handler ties his dog, start the shine time judge says got him we all see coon, at the same time coon jumped out over our head dog B an C trails under the tree never stopped and takes the coon track on, C an B still barking on track (same coon that was just scored) what do you do? Handler of dog A demands to cut loose? All 3 dogs tree 300 yards from 1st tree, did they tree same coon, how do you score dog C an B strike?

Tim

It would be impossible to say for certain that it was the same coon [ now we know it was ], so I would say plus dogs strike if coon was seen. What it's don't cut it, it is what you see. Dave

dog A is about to get lucky and get to get double plus points for the same coon as long as he get struck and treed before the tree is closed. and you don't minus the other dogs strike if they don't come into first tree or stop in the cast. Its the same kind of situation as if a dog goes back to same area of an already scored tree but ends up 2 trees over and the coon has moved over its not a previously scored tree so you can't prove its the same coon.

Rule says previously scored tree not previously scored coon.

I am glad that I am not the only one that this stuff happens to.
True story... 4 dog cast, 1 dog catches coon on ground but does not completely kill it. Other 3 dogs are out trailing. We plus dogs strike, lead him off and cut him. Dog goes back to coon and starts treeing so handler strikes and trees him. After 5 min, we go to him and he has the coon 12 feet up a tree 10 feet from where he caught him on the ground. Now it is obviously the same coon but not a "previously scored tree" so we had to plus strike and tree. Dog got 75+ strike, then 25+ strike and 125+ tree on the same coon.

Two dogs treed, walking in I see one dog pull the coon out of the bottom of tree, i was the only one that seen it get pulled out, so we only plus strike. A hour later after driving around to hit the same section from the other side the same dog gets treed on the same tree only this time she doesn't get pulled out. had to plus her up
