Tree Points

It seems a few posts are basically about how to minus the babbling dogs there strike points to make the babbling backpackers easier to beat. Here is a simple solution, keep the 1 min rule the way it is and give first tree 125 and everything else 25. Cut the tree countdown to 2 min and any dog found on the tree that was not called treed before the 2 min was up is minused his strike points and his 25 tree points regardless if coon is seen or not.

The people that like/hunt 100% independent dogs should like that. The people that don't like/hunt 100% independent dogs probably won't. I wonder which type is in the majority?

Just leave it.

Just leave it the way it is and live with it.

Richard I respectfully disagree.
A dog that's a 100% loaner will usually get his/her share alone regardless of the rules. And if a 100% pack type dog can't get there in 2 mins, it shouldn't get points anyway because it's either me-too'n/back pack'n or just too darn slow.
I like Blake's suggestions. Equal track points takes the reward for "barking" out and levels the playing field and 2 mins is plenty on the tree.
IMO - FUR is all that should ever be rewarded anyway. Babbler or silent it shouldn't matter (left to personal preference)

I like the way UKC rules are now no need to change them

Regardless of which rules or which KC is liked or what style of dog is prefered, the requirement to do well is the same.
If you're haul'n a COONDOG when you go to town.........you'll still win your share.

Keep the points the way it is.
Add tree count down/deductions for me too'n.
Then NO leash lock rule.

What points are being made here , Babbling , silent , honest , cover , deep and alone , cold nose or hot , accurate vs tree grabber etc. is it to get the numbers back up at the hunts or try to make them continue to go down?
