EPIC CROSS! Wilcox Thunder Bingo pups arriving 09/08/2015

Yes it's true. One of the last remaining straws of GR NITE CH GR CH '98 English Hall of Fame Wilcox Thunder Bingo semen has been used. Nelly was x-rayed on Monday revealing a minimum of six puppies. It's very likely that more are hidden in the big ball of pups. This cross matches some of the best blood currently available in the English breed with some of the best old blood the English breed has to offer. The reason this post was not put in the "puppies for sale" section is there won't be any available. This cross was originally announced on Facebook, so I have more names than what Nelly will produce in pups. I am very proud to be able to have the opportunity to make this cross and did so to hopefully improve the breed.

I would like to thank Larry Wilcox for having the vision to have Bingo collected many years ago and to Joe McLain of Van Alstyne, Texas for the opportunity to purchase this semen a few years ago. I have looked at countless pedigrees trying to figure what might make the best cross on Bingo. My final decision was what I was seeing when the Wilcox line was matched with the Main Street blood. Asa Briggs' Oakwoods Thunder dog is a very good example of crossing these two lines and I hope that this cross will produce similar results. Thanks everyone who has called and offered their best wishes to the success of this litter. It means a lot.

WOW!!!!

I'm 51 yrs old and kept up with English since I was 12. Not much gets my attention anymore but this is something special. For years I watched Larry promote his hounds in the book but Bingo was the one that caught my attention. Only thing better would be semen pups off Junior or Little Joe and that ain't happening. Thanks everyone for the compliments. Below is the first look as they were born this morning. Not the greatest pic as it was taken with my cell phone. They are all red and the red is already showing through the white, so these will probably be dark redtick in color like their parents. Preliminary quick check revealed six pups total with five females and one male. I will post another pic in a few days.

I thought a Durango Semen pup would light a fire under me, but I have to be honest...... This cross gives me goose bumps!

These pups should throw gravel in your face, get in the dark, and be alone with the coon.... I can't wait to hear that Bingo Tree mouth out of this female..... I loved John Ferrari's Timber Valley OLD Bell and Timber Valley Lucky as much as any female I ever turned loose. Johnny and Larry have always worked together to produce some nice hounds.

Thanks John for the comments. I've always wondered how many litters were born out of the Bingo semen. The only one I've heard was out of Bingo and Northridge Willy's JoJo? Didn't she give birth to one pup? I know there was a "one pup" litter out of Bingo somewhere.... other than the two "one pup" litters that produced your Lucky female and St Nick.

We got lucky in that we only used one straw for this litter, so I have two more straws of Bingo semen left. I doubt I will try it on Nelly again mainly because she is now seven years old and would be closer to eight by the time she is bred again. Too much of a risk considering the limited supply of semen.

The pups are doing great. I will get my digital camera out tomorrow and take some better photos to upload on here.

Jo and Bingo where mated twice with frozen semen. The first time there were I think five pups, second time Jo Jo never had pups. That when I talked Dennis Steinhauser ti breed to St Nick. I told him Bingo work why not a son of Bingo. The St Nick crossed produced even better. That where the fabulous five came from five dogs all became gr nt ch gr ch.
Northridge Freebie had one pup from frozen semen but never turn out. Marshall Curtis I believe got it.
Lucky and St Nick where not frozen semen babies but they were the only one born in their litter.
Wilcox Thunder Bingo was a every breathe tree dog which he would of produced a lot more put he had back problems and he had trouble breeding females when he got older.
Almost every female breed to Bingo that titled out had something to do with Boyd's Joe. Turns out Bingo dad was Wilcox JR and JR dad was Bates a Blue Kash by Boyd's Joe. So both Nick and Lucky had Little Joe in them as Blue Magic Dad was Rockin Roll Rowdy by Boyd's Rock by Boyd's Joe. So line breeding occurred thus my thinking that is why almost ever female breed ti Bingo that their pups turn out had Boyd's Joe the common dog in this mating.

New pics!

Pups are doing great and already showing some color. It's too early to tell, but the lone male and one of the females is looking more like a tri-colored pup. Those two pups seem to be showing an equal amount of both red and blue in their color. Regardless of how they turn out, they are all going to have heavy ticks and dark coloring.
