The best in my opionion is Simparica
WHY------because it kills them,,,and it keeps them away,,if you use it,,,you will no longer ve ticks or fleas

I sell NexGard, Simparica, Bravecto, and Trifexis at the hospital and I've been able to see how they stack up to each other. For tick control Bravecto and Simparica are hands down the best with the fastest tick kill rate. For fleas the first three are pretty equivalent. The one reason i like Simparica over Bravecto is that we've seen some failures with Bravecto between the 2nd and 3rd month with ticks and fleas and some dogs clear the drug faster than others. Bravecto is approved for the Lonestar Tick only when used every 2 months which makes it more expensive as well.

I think the best protection at this time is using Simparica once a month systemically along with Permethrin topically prior to cutting them loose for repellency. You can apply a light mist over the back and chest or just keep a rag lightly soaked in the truck and rub it on them if they hate the spray. Don't forget to spray your clothes too.

I'm pretty sure they are scored down the middle aren't they? If not just put your index finger on one side and your thumb on the other and press straight down. if they are scored do the same thing with your thumb and index finger on opposite sides of the score.

That�s a really good question because they only have approval for 2 months against the Lone Star Tick , but I haven�t seen any long term safety studies giving it every 2 months.

I�d stick with Simparica in those Lonestar Tick areas. It�s not worth the risk to only give it every 3 months and it�s way more expensive if you�re going to give it every 2 months.

I don't know what everybody's success with bravecto is, but I give it once in the spring, when I first start seeing ticks. Though it's only rated for 3 months, I have never given my dogs a second treatment in a year and never seen a flea or tick on any of them after 1 treatment in the spring!

Bravecto is approved for pregnant dogs. You can also use Heartgard Plus on pregnant dogs for parasite prevention and it reduces the amount of roundworms in the pups by reducing the tissue stage larvae in the muscles if it is used year round.
