Would give a lot for another daughter from beaver lake lightning!!!! In those days there was no conversation about accuracy percentages!!!! You always looked at a coon or a legitimate den!!!!!

Potomac

No comparison, Tree Picking Bill was like Muhamed Alie, maybe the greatest of all time. JMO

Should be a picture of Beaver Lake Lightning on here, I sent one.

Mr Bartles did you know Teddy Gardner or arils bowman back in the I guess late 70s or so??? Teddy was my grandfathers brother and the one who got me hooked and sold me my first and second dogs out of beaver lake lightning! As old Millie and sparky were older when I got them they were seasoned and true !!!!!!both were old white bald faces cooners!!!

Posted by terrybartles on 02-02-2013 08:48 PM:

Potomac

Mr Zinn, didn't know them, Doug Cooper of Charlestown WVa. had Lightning in I think real earley 70's, old Lightning was a powerful reproducer, only bred very little, produced world ch. Beaver Lake Magic, and world ch. Buffalo River Queen, and a no. of Nite Ch's and Grand Nite Ch's.

Posted by POTOMAC on 02-02-2013 08:56 PM:

Don't know what the bottoms of the pedigrees were of course they were just grade hounds but they were 100% coon treers evrynight all nite as Teddy and arils hunted on mules all over ,sugarlof mtn,and through northern va, and with mr Haney out at the airport ! Man those were the days and the dogs were judged in the woods by the fur they caught ! No titles and bs crying about this or that!!! Sure wish I could have hunted with ole bill!!! Billy tells me the bird female that I own is the only dog since bill that showed his ability tracking and treeing!! Of course he did say she is not as good but the only one he has seen since bill that showed his similarities!!!!! Ole alred smith was also out at dulls at the time aswell

Back in Tree Picking Bill's day, there were a lot of Lone Pine, Finley River bred dogs, that were plain tough, they dominated the hunts, Denny Burns bred a lot of them, also Sterling Smith had old Eagle and Robins Eagle, there were a bunch of them, one I hunted with a lot was Swishers Sonny, I really liked him, Darrel Kaiser in Mercersburg, Pa had him. this line of dogs over all were it, JMO.
