Hello Again Big Spike!

Crosses like Walker X Mountain Cur will have a variety of outcomes, as far as what you might expect to get in drive and ability.

Being that Treeing Walkers and Mountain Curs typically have very different styles, its very likely that you will either see more dominant Walker traits or more dominant Mountain Cur traits arise in the pups. Sometimes, you'll even get a nice blended dog that will have the best (or worst) of both worlds.

I would say that people do these types of crosses, generally to get a "harder" hunting, longer ranging dog that will tree a lot harder then a typical cur dog will.

Being that this is very much an outcross, there are many more variables involved then traditional Coonhound x Coonhound or Cur x Cur crosses.

Hope that helps!

Thank you

Very informative !! He uses his nose and can track a coon to the tree everytime but won't open on tree at night ...will fight a coon with more gritt than I've ever seen in a dog ...will tree and open during the day when he can see the coon and has a good handle on him.....always ran loose never had any training ....hes 14 months old

Those dual dogs are a lot of fun! I can appreciate a nice cur dog that you can take squirrel hunting and will roll up a coon every now and then, breaks up the monotony of the average day in the woods!

Good luck with your dog bud.
