My first hunt with Roofus was a good one we treed 4 coons seen all 4 we had a three way split tree each dog had thier own coon and held pressure to boot.

Roofus was bred to split tree with the meat. His mother is always on a split tree with the meat when I hunt her in competition. I am glad you like Roofus, I sure liked him.

May I suggest you using www.YouTube.com to post your videos? YouTube's videos play better than photobucket's.

Thanks for sending him to West Viriginia. I have only hunted him one night so far and if he is consistant like he was last night he will have a home for life..... He had 1st and 1st on every track and tree....I love his mouth.... Last night he looked great... We are unable to hunt tonight due to high water every where. The Fire dept had to rescue my dogs out of my Kennel last night. I nearly lost two females. Thank goodness for them and my neighbors for saving them. My kennel had about 4- 1/2 feet of water in it... I was out hunting when I recieved the call I was nearly 2 hours away.. Nothing was lost but my yard looked like a lake....

We made two trees last night and seen three coons. This was my second night in the woods with him. The video quality isn't that great I got a new camera and haven't learned how to use yet. Both trees are edited together into this one video. Watch at your own risk!!!!! You may become dizzzzzzzzzy.......

With a ped. that he has he should make a hell of reproducer.lot of BOYDS LITTLE JOE IN HIS BLOOD. you really dont need much to have a good dog.LOL

Mini is Junior bred. About as much as you can find these days. Kash was an outcross. Obvisously, it worked.

I had a friend that raised a litter out of Roofus. I will be able to tell you next Fall how the cross is working.

I am listed as the breeder but I was just doing a couple of friends a favor. I do have other pups out of Mini that are doing great.

GR CH'PR' MADDY GEES ROOFUS WINS 1ST PLACE @ TREEING WALKER SECTIONAL. 26 HOUNDS ENTERED. ROOFUS SHINED LIKE A MILLION DOLLARS LAST NIGHT. I JUST GOT HOME GETTING READY TO GO TO BED 8:37 AM. WITH 400+ POINTS HERE IS A RUN DOWN OF HIS SCORE 0 MINUS 225 CIRCLE 400 PLUS. ROOFUS SHOWED THE WALKERS HOW IT IS DONE!!!!!!

It has been a long while but I think Old Bang was an American Bluetick and Walker cross that was single registered English. I am pretty sure Flop was Junior bred. I drew out with Bang one night, he was a good tree dog. Flop won a lot for Glen McCabe, who owned both dogs. Glen passed several years ago. He was a real nice guy. I believe I drew out with Footsie at Flora, Illinois one night. Jed was owned by Del Hudson, who doesn't live too far from me. I have known Del a long time.

The cross was made as a favor to a couple of buddys of mine. One of them was Steve Harbert, Kash's owner. Kash is dead now.

I am planning on breeding Mini again as soon as she comes in heat. My friend Jim Ridge and I have talked about it. I bred Mini to Bo, Terry Goforth's dog, and had real good results.

It was just a local guy, he only kept 3 pups. I am going to get 1 of them, he is going to keep the other 2. They are bred tight, half brother to half sister with Roofus's sire on both sides. Both mothers are related. It is not exactly how I would breed my dogs, I would have Mini on both sides if it were me making a tight cross. But, both grandmothers are Lakeland bred hounds, I will try a pup.

I am getting the female just to have something to play with this summer. I will be keeping close tabs on the other 2 males. I don't think UKC will list them as in-bred but they might.

Roofus had first and first on every strike and every tree. With the exception of me causing him to take a second tree. I didn't call him treed when I should have on the second drop. Then me and another guy treed at the same time. And I let the judge give the other guy the first tree. After we scored the coon and was walking out a couple of the guys in cast mentioned that Roofus had treed first. On the last drop Roofus got first and first again and all three other dogs pulled and ol' Roofus stayed put on a den tree. I like his style he strikes as soon as he smells a coon and he trees steady not to hard and not to slow just right for me. This was only my third trip to the woods with him. He has shown me 9 coons, 1 den, and 1 slick... I won't fault him for the slick because it was late off a feeder. I feel that a coon had maybe been there. In fact Roofus knew he was wrong he quit treeing right after we got there. He seems to be the real deal. The only complaint I can say is with his locate in my opinion he don't have one he just has a steady change over... So far I am very happy with him. I do plan on putting him in several hunts this year. He is a joy to hunt. They say he is go yonder type dog with no reverse but I haven't had that to happen just yet. Thanks for all the kind words. And I will keep everyone posted on how does good or bad. I am not the kinda of guy that will just share the good things. I call them as they are... Roofus has proven to me that he came from the flat state of Illinios and that he can get it done in the mountains of West Virginia...Once Roofus makes Nite Champion he will be offered at stud but not until then. I believe he will go on to become a Grand Nite Champion if nothing happens. Once again thanks, JR

Here is a video where you can hear Roofus trailing (bawling), locating (I called it), and treeing (chopping). This video was taken in late December with snow and ice and he only made den trees.

JR, I don't know if you have got to see him show you something as a track dog but believe me, I have seen him do some great track work. He drifts his tracks real well. He is a good finisher.

If you want, I can post a video of his mother, her sire and dam, and others going back 5 generations. I also can post video of 2 half sisters, a half brother and a littermate. Soon, I hope to be able to post a video of a pup out of him.
