Pup babbling

I’ve got a 6.5mo pup that I’m just starting to take to the woods. He’ll go every step with my old dog, and a lot of times split off and so his own thing. He has treed some wild coon by himself and with the old dog. When we cut him loose with the other dogs he’s bad about babbling. I mean every breath. He’s fast enough to keep up with them and doesn’t get left behind. I want to put an end to it before he gets in the habit of doing so but i don’t want to put the electricity to him at such a young age. What do you guys recommend. Wait until he’s older to carry to the woods, keep packing him and see if he quits or start correcting it now while he’s young?

If he’s truly running and treeing coon by himself quit hunting him with other dogs period! Feed him all the solo time you can for the next 6-8 mos. Then find someone who has a good older dog that’s not trashy, one that’s good natured and one that doesn’t leave the country when turned loose. Solo him 80% of the time and run him with a good solid dog the other 20% of the time until he gets to be a couple years old. Then I’d still be picky about what I put him down with.

That sounds like a good plan to follow.
