Couple thoughts on Garmin
I know they are expensive, but here is an observation to think about..
Bought my original Alpha four years ago, it's worked flawlessly up unitl about a week ago.. Will track dogs on the map, but not the compass and developed a yellow spot about the size of a quarter in the screen.
I did a master reset and it cured the compass problem for about three trips, the yellow spot was not affected.
Called Garmin this morning and I am sending it in and they are shipping me a new/refurbished unit for $117.00 all in..
So I paid $750 for the unit 4 years ago, have another $117.00 in it and if I get another 4 years out of it I will be at about a $100/year for this product.. Hard to beat in my opinion.. Hard to beat.
Yep, I like the Dogtra maps better, initial cost is cheaper, hate the fact that you have to use a cell phone - just hate it...
Garmin is just at another level in customer service and options after the sale..
LARRY
go on E-BAY and get your self a small tablet use it just for your tracking system --they are cheap --you don't have to have service --save your phone to call your buddy tell him how good old JOE looked tonight --LOL
