i would say that johnson's banjo was the most famouse. fanciers of all breeds young and old have heard of this hound. he also is the hound that changed the walker breed and put the breed on top. he was a freak of nature....................

I have to go with Dan and Ann as well.

If I had to pick a dog other than those two I would pick Finley River Chief. I am not old enough to remember him but my papaw talks about hunting dogs out of him and how good they were.

Spare Time Spanky &
Pac Man

Gr Nt Ch Gr Ch littlejohn's Little Arkie

Arkie was by no means as well known as Lipper, Pac-man, Nailor etc. But he did have a big impact on the bluetick breed and through a little different type bluedog than what you normally see. about 75% of all the people that had a dog off Arkie wanted another & another. In my opinion the best reproducing bluetick off all time.

tough question

Question ask for the greatest coonhound ever, and I will get to (JMO) on that in a second. But those that are changing things around to greatest reproducer, let me give you some facts... yes many want to claim ancestors the reason this famous reproducer lives, you can't look at things that way. A repruducer should not be looked at by his ancestors. Reproducer simply is what that particular dog produced. How can you look past Sackett Jr. Dog lived in the far north/west of Michigan. Not centrally located for the public. The dog dies at the young age of 7 in the prime of his breeding years. A dog that had the world taken by storm, Frank was turning away folks cause he couldn't fit them in Jr's schedule. Yes Rat went crazy with the breedings. Tell me this, would Rat of ever got the chance if JR lived another 5 years...Affraid not folks. There will never be another to take the world by Storm like he did and only live to be 7. Tons of Rats big winners were born after he was 7. Keep that in mind.

Now for the best hound. Stylish Stubby. Those that hunted with him on a regular basis know exactly what I'm talking about. No money to promote this hound like he should of been. John Strickland offered what I was told was close to twenty thousand when Stubby went on a tear a few years back. The boys couldn't bare to see the hound go although the money would of been huge for their families. Mark my words, if Strickland would of got this hound when he tried buying him, and pushed him like the many he has... I strongly believe the sky would of been the limit for this outstanding hound. Sired by the great Stylish Clover.

In the late 30s Hans Wagner offered 1000 dollars to anyone who has a dog that can beat the Nightrider on striking and treeing a coon on neutral ground.

If we are changing the question from "most famous" to the greatest hound/s of all time JMO:

1.Pacman
2.Merchants Bawlie
3.Hillbilly Mac
4.Spring Creek Rock
5.Beanblossom Buck

Most famous

Most famous (JMO) I would have to say BALL'S STYLISH
HICKORY NUT HARRY many have tried him ! many have bred
to him! he has reproduced!and his ancestors have
produced, the strong reproducing genes and breeding
have made cents to me .. and his off spring is still doing
it today...

BEST HOUND :
I would have to say HOUSES DRUMMER!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
this hound could take any track and tree it and make it
look easy any night and those who had the pleasure to
hunt with him said the same thing if this hound would
have been promoted like his daddy he to would have
been been know world wide. SIRED BY THE GREAT
.........................HOUSES CLINT..............................
