DNA Question
If you DNA profile a dog where neither parent is DNA profiled but three of the grandparents are, can it show anything about the parentage of the dog, either right or wrong? Thanks?
No. The only reason we do DNA testing is to verify who the parents of a dog are. To do that, we need the dog's DNA on record as well as both suspected parents.
Thanks for the reply Russell, kinda thought that but wasn't sure! I bought a pup that goes back to some old dogs that I had and someday will probably DNA her, I knew that since neither parent was DNA'd she would only be eligible for DNA-P. I have no reason to doubt her papers but because a lot of her ancestors are DNA'd I wasn't sure if that could show any unknow surprises or not...lol...
No problem. Have a great day!
