good for the whole family...

Our Silky Terrier "Chloe" loves this show, I watch it every week, and as you can see, she is perched on my lap, focused on the big screen....

Tailgat Adventures for the Family

I agree. I have watched this with my son and it has sparked his interest in hunting and possibly competition hunting in the future. I have taken my son a few times over the years but when he goes he thinks he is jynxed because we rarely see coon. A lot of that was the dog we were following. I had a young pup and bought him an older dog to train my pup with. It was a case of you get what you pay for and I eventually put this hound down. After reading on this board about this show I set up the DVR to record and I watched it when my boy was around and he has asked me to go more this year than anytime in the past. When we are hunting he talks with me about the rules and what the dog is doing. I would like to thank Tailgate Adventures for opening the door for me and my son to grow closer to each other rather it be watching it when its too nasty to go or actually getting in the woods and discussing stuff as we walk along.

Happy Hunting

Posted by deschmidt27 on 01-11-2010 06:28 PM:

We need everyone to understand that there were two basic types of episodes aired in Season I, those where we hunted our own dogs and those where we hunted with others.

For those with our own dogs... Joe and I only own Walkers, so that's what you saw.

For those episodes with other houndsman... those were of two types; those that were us taking advantage of invitations to go on some sort of specialty hunt and those where folks wanted to advertise their dogs or kennel through a premium kennel sponsorship.

For the premium kennel sponsorship, which we limit the quantity of, we only had one request from a houndsman that hunted something other than Walkers and that was Chirico's Redbone Kennels. So other breeds were not covered partially because there was not a kennel owner that specifically wanted to advertise another breed.

Now... I personally do not beleive in affirmative action, so I did not survey the other houndsman on what breed they hunted before I came to film with them. This means I did not discriminate against other breeds, but I also did not discriminate against Walkers! There only 13 episodes in a Season and so there will always be some limitation on the number of breeds, types of hunts or states hunted in, in a given season.

Going forward, we will continue to offer a limited number of Premium Kennel Sponsorships slots and they will continue to be on a first come, first serve basis, regardless of breed. Again, we do not get paid to air our shows, in fact we have to pay the network for airtime, and therefore the show will not exist without advertising/sponsorship dollars. And to ensure we get filming underway quickly to support future seasons, sponsors and advertisers need to be on a first come first serve basis to not delay funding.

To further the explanation of who we hunt with... we get countless invitations each week and appreciate all of them, but with only thirteen episodes to film each season, we will only be able to take advantage of a limited number of those invitations.

However, there's a big difference between just wanting to go on a hunt with us and wanting to advertise or promote your stud dog, kennel or breed. If you are looking for advertising, a premium kennel sponsorship is the way to go.

Dave
