-- question about Chritianity (http://forums.ukcdogs.com/showthread.php?threadid=928300201)
question about Chritianity
How many of you are attending a church where the GRACE of God is being taught and preached? We have been talking about this at work lately. It seem that many preachers are still preaching LAW instead of GRACE. Which leads to peope judging others and still trying to work for salvation, among other issues. What are some thoughts?

not US law
I should have clarified. I was talking about Mosaic Law. The law that the Phairisees and Saducees tried to live up to. The Grace of God provided by the blood of Jesus paid for all our sins. But some preachers are still trying to hold members to that standard set by Mosaic Law.

Bill of rights has nothing to do with it.
Love
Peace
Thou shalt not lie
Thou shalt not steal
Help those who are less fortunate who are willing to try and help themselves
Thou shalt not be lazy ( the devils workshop)
So what is wrong with these christianity methods above and why would you not want your politican to adhere to them?
If the politicians used a little of these christianity methods the whole world would be a better place to live.

BEAR, YOU SEEM TO BE REVERENT. WHAT'S YOUR TAKE ON MODERN DAY PREACHERS THAT THINK THEY HAVE WORKING HOURS?? THE ONES WE KEEP GETTING TRY TO TELL US THEIR DAY ENDS AT 5 O'CLOCCK. THE MESSAGE THEY'RE SUPPOSE TO BE PREACHING HAS NO TIME LINES. WHENEVER SOMEONE HAS NEEDS FOR A PREACHER, THEY NEED TO GO AND MINISTER UNTO THEM IN MY OPINION!! WE HAD AN OLD TIME PREACHER MARRY MY WHOLE FAMILY. MY WIFE AND I AND THREE DAUGHTERS. BY THE WAY, EVERYONE IS STILL MARRIED. MY WIFE AND I, 43 YRS. OUR DAUGHTERS RANGE FROM TEN TO FIFTEEN YEARS. ALL ARE IN CHURCH WHERE THEY BELONG.
i believe
like you do. I am preaching at a church right now. They asked me to be their pastor. Its for no pay. I preach because God has called me too. I told them that at this point, I can not be a pastor. I said that I will fill the pulpit but pastoring is a full time job. I feel that a true pastor should be able to fill a fulltime roll and be paid as such. Pastoring is a 24/7 job no matter day or night. The reason our churches aren't reaching out and working is because the pastors that are bi-vocational can't put the time into the church that they need or want to. I am talking about this "problem" with our SBC director of missions and other preacher/pastor friends now. I pray that God will use me in full time ministry one day. I believe that he will but it will be in his time.

quote:Agreed!! My opinion is christianity has been picked, pulled apart, and rounded off to fit the mood of the country or groups of people thereforth making it weak. God doesn't have a welfare program you gotta work for it so it's starts one person at a time, not the one your fingers are pointing at, but the one in the mirror.

Folks
What I'm talking about is preaching that still holds people in bondage to Mosaic law. Sin is sin Jesus died to pay that debt for us. His blood covers us. As southern baptists we have been taught all the things you can't do but not how to live through grace. I wasn't talking about our government and churches. But how to live in Gods grace and mercy.

As for me, Im saved by the blood of Jesus and his wonderful and precious grace and forgiveness. I felt his Spirit draw me and I accepted him and his sacrifice and redemption. I am redeemed back to God the Father through Jesus Christ and his awesome Grace and Love. Yall Pray for me that I will continue to walk in the Light and continue to grow and learn and submit my will to his will. Love yall lots ! Be safe in the woods !
by Grace we are Saved,we should want to do the work that God has for us to tell others,if this was not what he wants he would have taken us up when we were saved...

?? Does our forgiveness for past, future, and present sin require repentance daily or just the one time we repented when the lord dealt with our heart and we accepted him as our persona savior?

As I said above, some denominations will answer that question differently, but I'm happy to explain what I believe to you.
Your forgiveness unto Salvation is required only once and you are a Child of God now and forever. End of subject.
But, your repentance of sin is ongoing because there are severe consequences for sin and also loss of rewards in the next life. Those consequences can and will include a host of problems but NOT a loss of Salvation..
That is what I believe and I recognize some disagree. The subject is well covered by both sides in the link I provided above along with verses pertaining to the subject..
It is good that you seek truth and ask questions. I encourage you to dig into God's word and seek truth there also. God Bless.
