Frozen Semen breeding - Surgical vs Transervical

Your preference? Your experiences?

I had it done surgically once back before I found out about Nevergone Genetics... the bitch didnt have pups and didnt come in heat for about 2 years afterwards.

After that, I had Dean breed 5 females transervical and got pups all 5 times.

But now that Dean is gone I'm just trying to decide if I should give Surgical another chance or just stick with Transervical.

Stick to Transervical. It works, its cheaper and your female doesn't get cut on.

I've done both....success both tines

Trans is a lot cheaper but if you have poor quality semen surgical is better. With surgical, you implant the sperm right on top of the egg. You also have to be a vet to do surgical implantation since it is considered a surgical procedure. Dean used a scope and knew what he was doing is why he got such good results. He also did his own progesterone testing and didn't have to send blood out to a lab and trust their results.

Not all semen is the same!

If you are wanting the best result, go with trans!

Do your homework on your bitch and the stud first, tho

I've had three females surgically implanted, all three had eight pups each.It is more expensive, the incision is so small it never was a problem. The progesterone test can add to the price. Think he check them daily. All females are different one was on day eleven one on twelfth n one on sixteenth day. Good Luck however you decide. JesseJ

I used King vet clinic in Topeka In today. They will also store semen for you.. They seem nice and knowledgable. Has anyone else used them? I also wondered what vets will collect and freeze semen..
