Land owners during a UKC night hunt
Are there any laws or does UKC protect the land owners for a cast of hunters during a UKC night hunt. I am preparing to ask a land owner for permission to bring a cast on their land for the next night hunt and want to have the answer ready for them when they ask it.
Land owners
UKC does not protect the hunters or the landowners, way too much legal issues for this to ever happen. I suggest to you that you get the land owner to sign a permission card that WAIVES all of the land owners liability. I have ALL my land owners sign cards granting permission to hunt in return for me WAUVING ALL LANDOWNER LIABILITY. Everyone that hunts with me on any if my hunting spots know before hand that the LANDOWNER IS NOT responsible for any accidentsor liability claims. As a land owner myself, I want ALL landowners protected against all liability claims if they are kind enough to allow hunting on their land. I have no problems getting permission to hunt by respecting ALL landowners and waiving liability to hunt on their land. P.S. Make absolutely sure that you are shown proof if hunting permission before you hunt on someone else's property or you are subject to trespassing. Dave

a state law removes all liability from the land owner who grant recreational use of their land.

That's a good law, every State should have a law like that, but most states do not. I feel it's our responsibility to protect the land owners from liability for allowing us to hunt in their land. Have permission cards that waive land owner liability in exchange for hunting permission. My cards are worded so that the land owner is giving myself and my hunting party permission to hunt in exchange I have agreed to waive all land owner liability. I make sure that every one hunting with me is read the liability waiver and agrees to the waiver or they do not hunt in that land. Gross negligence can not be waived nor should it be waived. Dave

Many landowners are afraid of being sued. What most of them dont know is that the prosecutor has to prove they were neglecting hazards on their property. If you fall down a steep hill it's your fault. If you are next to a barn that falls on you from rot, then you could probably have a case.

I run a deer hunting club where we guide casts. We carry insurance on all of our leased property that protects the landowner.
