Dog Food

Anyone else feed Retriever from Tractor Supply, I feed mine the Hi Pro Retriver blended with Diamond High Protein, Dogs look pretty good, nice firm stool. Less clean up. I kid you not, i feed all my dogs this blend and i put 2 of the dogs in the kennel at night and in the morning there will only be a pile or 2 in the kennel. So its not too bad of food i think,

I use it in my coon feeders because it's cheap but there's probably not a thing wrong with mixing it with Diamond feed like your doing. "The proof is in the pudding" If your dogs look good and your not getting allot of waste then your doing something right. IMO

A friend of mine feeds retriever and his hounds look good, but he doesn't hunt them very hard

Watch for quality control too guys. Just because dogs look good on a food is not a sign of good quality control. It's a good start though. Check to see what kind of recalls the food has been through and how many. Diamond is one of the worst when it comes to dog food recalls. How many dogs were lost to these Salmonella contaminations?

I wouldn't be feeding it to my valuable dogs!

Ya Blue Buffalo had issues with Aflatoxins which is from mold. I'm not a fan of either of these.

Royal Canin and Hills Prescription/Science Diet are the leaders in quality control. I know that Purina took a rap for that Beneful diet lately , but their Pro Plan Diets are impressive and priced very well.

I used to feed that retriever from tractor supply.My dogs did good on it and liked it.I seen someone say one time it was made by purina for tractor supply.I have no idea if that is true but I remember reading that before.
BTW taste of the wild is basically a diamond brand.Its made by them so to me its diamond,just like sportsmix is.
I feed diamond naturals chicken and rice now.Never had a problem with it.
Those that like purina can have it,my dogs dumped it on the ground and crapped on it when I tried it.I guess that was their way of telling me they never cared for it.

I will stick to my Pro Plan Performance. I scoop 2 small turds a day not 2 piles a day.
