Big Fish.........Small Pond
Coonhunting is relatively a small pond in comparison to other hunting sports, and I am afraid it is getting smaller for several different reasons. I don't understand why it is so important for some to be a "Big Fish" in such a "Small Pond." There is no room for jealousy in the sport of Coonhunting, and no need for it. Instead of tearing someone down, what would be wrong with helping one another and building them up? Not one of us can claim originality to the dogs we hunt or breed. We can make crosses that work, and even though a person, through time and extensive line breeding, can create their own line of hounds, all of us are building on a foundation someone else laid.
If we are going to make coonhunting a "Bigger Pond" we will have to do it as small fish, working together. I have determined that if anyone wants to criticize me, it is going to be one-sided.
Take care......Good hunting......Wishing for you the very best.......Hoping all of your "Coonhunting Dreams" come true.

This is well said. A lot of what is wrong with nite hunts IMO is that instead of being a tool used to better the breeds you hunt and being for the dogs, egos get in the way and it becomes more about the win. Now I know its compeition and winning is the objective, but at what cost?

i would just caution at pointing fingers, cause you know what they say about how many are pointing back. the original post was kinda of all over the place and not really sure if it was in general or directed at someone directly, so alittle diffucult to get what it is really hitting at. but where one mind find fault in percieved jealously, others might find fault in prcieved self promotion, and continous need for recognition and praise and the validation from others, especially behind the guise of humility.

I for one can't stand it when people use the name of a well know dog for there dog when it's not related. I feel it is very disrepectful to the people who worked there hide off to make a name for there dog. Thats just LAZY.
