I have some Redbooks back to early 70's, never seen that name; I have seen some "Hachie River", I wonder if he has the name confused? Hachie River was a well known name back in the day....

Jim Carpenter of Waxhaw, NC was a GREAT ambassador for our Breed, He had several good dogs over the years, I seem to remember Gr Nt Ch Tarheel Red Ace, if memory serves me correct on the name, as one of his best or most known hounds.

JIM -{checkerboard}- CARPENTER

Jim and a couple of his buddies used to come up here to Pa. and deer hunt and Turkey hunt after he got out of the coondogs. he quite shortly after a hurricane went thru his area and made it almost impossible to get to his dogs when they treed. my brother still exchanges cards at different holidays, Jim was master of ceremonies I believe for the Purina awards program when it first started, just look at some older pictures of Famous Amos at the awards banquet and you might see Jimmy in his Checkerboard out fit with the owners of Amos. Donnie Webb of Maine was co owner of Ace, he would come down and go to redbone days with us a couple of times , Ace was a nice hound as was the fellows that handled and hung out with Jim
I know they did some fishing in the summer time so maybe that has something to do with the fish hatcher dogs

Yeah I think it has to do with fishing . Something him and my neighbor or friend came up with . Just a inside thing they call it . Not sure like I said I'll see my neighbor today so I'll be sure to ask
