Light reviews

I've always done fine with a decent flashlight or the better walmart headband lights ... I'm looking to upgrade and stop fooling with buying batteries or charging my AAA's.

I like the look and most likely dependability of the 6v belt light like I see Valley Creek has .... I know there are newer style cap lights and self contained battery lights like the TriTronics Razor ...

Anyone used the smaller LED belt lights ? Is there really anything wrong with them that would keep you from finding coon and not dying or un-coolness just because they aren't the latest and greatest ?

thanks

The Razor is really nice.... But I put it on the shelf once I saw a laser torch pro and ordered one the next day. I absolutely love it.

I will say though that I'm not too fond of the white light the LED outs out though. So they sent me an amber pop cover I like a lot. It could just be in my head but I believe the yellow tint on the cover helps to see break ups in the tree and limbs and such. I prefer it to the bright white. Plus Laser Torch are some good folks

I have always been told that there is no difference in brightness beyond 17 volts. The bigger batteries give longer burn times but with the LED's, your looking at once a week charging with about any of them so not much to sell there. Going down to 6 volts would probably cost some brightness but for a guy finding coons with WalMart, I'm betting 6v will be plenty for you. And I don't get the feeling you're the type to ever die of uncool so the 6v Valley Creek or any of the mini-pack LED's should make you very happy. I hate the hat lights. To me, it's like wearing a brick on your head but I may be just too sensitive.

Light

I got the new Lazor Torch Pro, real nice light and super bright.
Nite Lite now sells a L.E.D light, I believe you can buy just the head and use it with your old battery pack or you can get the combo they sell.
Also there's a company called Surefire that sells some of the brightest hand held flashlights I've ever seen.
And the old tried and true MagLight has a 3 D cell L.E.D flashlight that's super bright and the batteries last forever. Best part is the cost. $30

My wife has the valley creek 6v. She can find coons just as well as me. You'll just have to charge it every night.
