Garmin ?

I have a 220 and I dont have any problems with my two collars but when I add a friends collar it only picks up for a few minutes and then wont pick it up again.. It always goes back to the spot where I added it. He uses the same collar on his unit and doesnt have any problem with it.. Anyone know what might cause this??

Check the collar ID numbers. If they are similar, you will have problems. Push the "dog" button, then hit "menu," and it will show you the ID number for the collar. If you have an ID #11 on one collar and on your friend's has an ID #21, that is too similar. Change one of the collars so instead of 21, make it 23 or 24. This is just my guess anyway. If this doesn't work, I would say there is a difference in updates between the two systems that won't allow it to work. Hope this helps.

Thanks for the reply. I looked at the id's and they don't have any common numbers so shouldn't be a problem. Must be something with the systems like you said

Try to update both systems and all collars so everything is on the same sheet of music. If this doesn't work, I don't know what to tell you. Good luck.

How do you go about updating them?

Posted by Virgil on 07-18-2012 09:58 PM:

Updating them shouldn't change anything as none of the updates were created to fix this problem or anything like it. Also if it were the ID numbers conflicting he would get a warning on the screen stating as such.

I have seen this type of thing one time with a buddies Garmin and we cured it by manually entering the collar ID numbers into the Garmin.

When you add the collar are you letting the Garmin automatically detect it by touching the antennas or are you manually entering the number. Theoretically it shouldn't matter how the collar is entered but like I said I have seen a couple times when it did.

I added his collar both ways and same thing happened. But I haven't done. Anything with mine. Maybe If I'd remove and add them all again it would fix it. Idk

Thanks for all the replies. I updated my garmin and it had one software update. Once I did that it fixed the problem.
