Remedies for dog barking mouth out
Looking for remedies for when a dog barks his mouth out. I have bark collars now to help stop this. Wasn't LA 200 an antibiotic that some people used to help bring the bark back? Thanks for any advice.

my experience
I tried the LA 200 didn't have much luck. I gave shot in muscle, dogs leg got bad stiff and sore. I then tried under the skin, he developed knots under the skin and they were getting bigger. Had to take him to the vet. Before I tried LA 200 I had also tried another cattle antibiotic, didn't work. The vet told me the antibiotic is used to treat infection. Which most of us know that. The vet explain and it makes sense is when a dog barks its self out or hoarse it has caused most of the time an inflammation and swelling not an infection. So you need anti-inflammatory medicine. Because I used the LA 200 on my dog it cost me a trip to the vet for problems other that his voice. Would have been cheaper if I went there first. I had to give antibiotic to fight infection for draining off the knots LA200 caused. Vet said not all dogs will respond to the LA200 the same, mine had bad reactions to it weather I gave it in the muscle or under the skin. So for the inflammation and swelling I was given "Rimadyl" 100mg once a day for 10 days. For the possibility of infection due to the draining of the knots I was given"Ampicillin" 500mg twice a day for ten days. My dogs voice is pretty much back to normal. They total vet trip was $250. The LA200 cost me $25. So if I would have went to the vet first I would have spent I figure around $100 or less, but instead I spent $275 total trying to save money.
I have had some success with Lemon juice and Honey. I try to mix it 50/50 , put it in a large syringe(no needle). I slowly apply it in the mouth as they swallow it helps soothe and coat the throat. I do this 2 to 3 times a day, plus keep the barking or trying to bark very limited. This will help some, but it sounds like the anti-inflammatory medicine is what you need. And I agree with the below post "TIME" is also an important factor in the healing. Good luck.

Time, I have had a couple do it and they were fine with good loud voices after a little time and I didn't do anything for them but wait.

I have tried giveing a dog a shot of LA-200, it made a huge knot. Try frying up a bunch of onions in some sort of meat gease, the greaser the better. Feed that to the dog I have had very high success treating horse hounds with fryed onions.
