Anybody seen this from a hound?
I have a 3 yo that is a nice hound. He can smoke a track tree a layup and is an all nite tree dog. Here is the bad. He seems to want to hang with what ever he is turned out with. Kind of acts like a me too dog but that is far from the truth! He is a 1 st dog 90% of the time. If y'all can help shoot me a line. If this dog would do his own thing he would be world class!

well
get another dog out of the truck with him but have someone hold that other one on a leash while you turn the three year old loose and if he stays around get on him till hes gone i have had to do this with several dogs

DOES HE DO THAT WITH PUPS TOO OR JUST BIG DOGS?
SOMETIMES TURNING THEM WITH YOUNG PUPS I MEAN LIKE 3 OR 4 MONTH OLDS THAT MIGHT GO A LITTLE WAYS BUT DONT USUALLY GO TO FAR, WILL MAKE THEM GO ON BECAUSE THE LITTLE PUPS TEND TO HANG AROUND THE TRUCK OR WHEREVER YOU ARE AND THEN THE BIGGER DOG WILL GET BORED WITH THAT AND GO ON ON ITS OWN.
WE HUNT OUR DOGS BY THEMSELVES AND WITH ALL KINDS OF DOGS TO GET THEM USED ALL SITUATIONS IN CASE WE DECIDE TO COMPETITION HUNT ONE.

EVERYTHING happens for a reason.
if hes first and right 90%of the time hes world class already why mess him up
well thats what i said but i see big time potential in this dude. for example last night some young dogs tree a possum he never opened or treed on it but he was in the area just hangin around!
he should have left and went to find a track but he chose not to. but he aslo knows better than to fool with trash

Turn one out. Let it get treed. Go to tree. Have somebody turn him out. If he comes in. Switch him a little a tell him to get on. Might take a few times. Then just hunt the hair off him right by himself for a month. Then repeat process. Might work and might not. All depends on the dog.
