cats at night

just wondering if anyone had any helpful hints for keepin cats in a tree in the dark. this was the first season ive really tried fully with them.

howdy

its hard to get them to tree at night let alone keep them suckers in a tree but the best time to get them to tree is early in the morning just before daylight

I treed one about two weeks ago right at the break of daylight. He was very nervous. I think there almost impossible to keep treed at night at least in this area. Ive heard from alot of experienced cat hunters the same thing. But im by no means an expert on bob's.

i treed one after bear season one night coon hunting anr it just sit in the tree and didnt move a muscle. it even gave me time to load my pistol. that was the only one id ever seen in a tree. and ive been huntin since i was big enough to walk. guess that one got me spoiled and hooked on them. ive been huntin when i can day and night, and ive ran a few. did manage to bay one under a rock early one mornin. ran a few others but they we jumpers. hopefully next season ill get those english dogs tails alittle tighter.

same thing happened to me on the getting hooked part, i ran em off and on over the years just for something to do in the winter, then after my first couple i saw sittin in a tree, it became an addiction. I kept it quiet this winter so i could see how my dogs done on them, but i had a pretty good season. I hope to do even better next year. They seem to wanna bay in the rocks or escape through them.

trick to the den problem.A cat will run to its den ,set up by the den and shoot the ccat as it runs in ,stay very still as the dog brings him in ,long range scoped 22 hornet,20 gauge close in or on circleing bobs

the last one i put in a hole ud have had to shot him point blank. its one of the thickest hollers ive been in. guess thats why ive put several bear in there.

defently use a 20ga then,if its the same hole you and your dog will get him with the set up tactic.anthor way is to jump them off a bait pile ,deer works best.they tree fast with a belly full,lol

really never know where on is going. i hunt my dogs loose because we had little snow after bear season. plus killing one aint my thing as long as i know its in a hole. i killed on and just like the bear i killed thats all i cared about. plus my camera is alot easier to drag outta the woods. i was wanderin if anyone tried a red or amber lens at night if that made a difference.
