need advice about a dog
I have a 1 year old redtick that is a great dog and will run and tree his own coon but here lately he has been wantin to pick a fight with my older walker dog on the tree. what can i do to break this dog from this.
Grumpy Dogs
I'm not saying this is the way to do it nor am I recommending it, so take it with a grain of salt. My friend owns a huge male that doesn't seem to start fights but can finish one. Several younger dogs have been knocked down a couple notches after learning they weren't the toughest thing on the tree. I've also heard of people using e collars for this kind of behavior. I know of people neutering males and that has helped, although most people prefer not to. Good luck and be careful with the dog what ever you do.

well for one you could get away from English and Walkers and get youself a couple of blueticks. If that doesn't work then either get used to hunting him alone or give him to someone that hunts ALONE. Hunting him with a dog that can and will put a whoopin' him might work or could make it worse and/or ruin him. You shouldn't refer to him as a great dog though at least in my opinion because that alone make him the opposite of great. If you convince yourself he's great EXCEPT for that it will make it harder for you to do the right thing.

dog fighting at tree
you must become the boss, get a wood doll about 12 inches long,1 inch to 2 inches thick, when you get to the tree, and their going at it come down as hard as you can on the young dogs muzzle first then the other if needed, don't worry you won't hurt them, don't leave the tree when done, make both of them tree together, repeat step one as often as needed. if done right 2 x should be enough. if the pup raiser's would stop the habit of dominance at the feed pan as pups this problem would'nt be as popular down the road.hope i have been of some help to you.

ha ha well blue wont due with me so ill hunt walkers lol but thanks for the advice ill give it a try
well one more question If i let my older dog whip him could that possibly put a mean streak in him? But thanks for the posts keep it comin.
I think you've got 3 options. If you want to keep the dog and hunt it alone, that's fine. If you want to sell the dog, that's fine. Just make sure the buyer knows what they are getting. If you want to keep the dog but not hunt it alone, you'll have to try to correct the problem and could possibly fix him or it might wreck him. If the dog gets wrecked while you're trying to correct the issue at least you tried. Stick to females after this and you should have better luck. There are gators of EVERY breed.
