Ora L. Thomas ?........does he sell good dogs ?

I have been noticing his ads in the Mags, he sounds like he has some nice hounds at fair prices..........

Does anyone on here know him, bought dogs from him, or know of someone that has bought from him with good results.

If your comment is negative, send me a PM........ Tim

if that is the man from demoines ia..surely he has had to have had a few over the yrs,,
i know 2 men that drove out there from ohio to test drive some of them coondogs,,they took a coondog with them to compare them to..
they came back with only the dog they took out and said,

"some people have different ideas of what a coondog is" (not exactly the way they said it,i'm being polite)

"that was 30 yrs ago" 1 of those men is still alive,i dont have his number but could if it was needed

i think no matter who you buy a coondog from you should always "Test Drive IT" unless you know the person you are buying from has the same idea of what a coondog is like you do..

He has been selling hounds for longer then I care to remember. I know of one people bought that they liked. I did sell two females to him back in the very early 80's with the agreement that I would get a pup out of each female. That was one of the things he had to agree to for me to sale them to him. If he hadn't agreed to that I wouldn't have sold them to him. I am still waiting for my pups.

IF YOU DON'T KNOW THE MAN, YOU'D BETTER KNOW THE DOG.

TEST DRIVE 'EM JUST LIKE YOU WOULD A USED CAR.

I have personally purchased two dogs from Ora Thomas. Both were quality hounds and as described.

We also have bought some young Spring Creek hounds from Ora in the past. Monty Gussey and Ora Thomas made the cross which was half brother half sister cross of Spring Creek Rock. Willie and and Drifiter were die hard coon dogs. Never found anything any better than they were hunted in across the states and had the coon. Went to Mich with old Ruby and Drifter we made 14 drops 14 coon were seen. Open track dogs and super die hard tree dogs. Now these big name walkers that are big name titled dogs. Made 14 drops saw one coon. But the one top males daughter did do a lay up. Other wise these dogs open about ten different times but could not finish any of the tracks they started. Also never did see where these top titled males had any littermates that hunted but man people sure did breed to these big named titled dogs. We seen enough just hunting with them to make us never want any coon hound if thats all the better they hunted. I don't know Ora deals were with others, but Ora was honest with the two young males out of his Cindy dog were what he said they were coon dogs. Anybody can have a bad night and have seen dogs hunt one way for some one and not the same for some one else. We kept our line pure old fashion walkers that are open track and hard tree dogs. They didn't bark on a track they didn't finish and have the coon. If we seen the same quality track dogs that were die hard accurate tree dogs we crossed out with them. People that know us will tell we have been spoiled by hounds we have had in the past, present, now. There are walkers bloodlines you will never see in our yard because when we hunted with these famous dogs they nor did any littermates show us any coon if they even hunted. When we or some one that had one of our pup out hunted when hunting with these famous titled dogs. One pup at nine months old tree nine out of ten coon in Mich when hunted with this famous titled walker dog. So what pleases one man might not please nobody else. Or what pleases many might not please one fussy hunter that wants tree dogs that know how to track.
