John Vaught

HI John
i met you about 2yrs ago at bboa day's trying to buy young dog from you which i couldn't get you down on price but anyway.
You alway's talk about why bluetick breeders don't get along and why they don't breed to each others dogs like the walker guy's do.I don't want to start anything but go back through and look at all the posts made between the bluetick breeders"bb's" and i was completely amazed at all the bickering that goes on within our own breed. all the other 5 breeds that view ALL OUR POST'S made by all the bluetick breeders that we sure are crazy no wonder we cant breed for the ultimate blue dog cause they spend more time bickering about who's dogs are out of who.
MY OPINION IS WHO CARES. if you came to michigan and beat my ormiston bred dog with a hammer bred dog "which theres alway's been words between both these breeders. but anyway,we'd hopefully shake hands and compliment each others dogs and spread the word that you met so and so and there nice blue dogs.
we as bluetick hunters, breeders need to get our act together
and stop all this dang bickering and get busy and start winning

I just might not have a dog that could beat that dog of yours, and if I don't I surely would enjoy the hunt with you.I like to see all dogs do well with who ever I hunt with. I do not hunt in any night hunts, but I do respect true honest winners in these hunts. Its true I liike the Hammer Blooded dogs, and I do like to stir up things from these guys on here, but that don't make me as a person in true life any different than you or any other human being on this earth. I have high respect for Mr. Ormiston, and I do believe his blue dogs are as good as any that wears a blue coat. He sure has kept his blood true from his original start, and I would like someday to have some of that blood........I will be in Mich. around the first of October staying in around the battle creek area ( AROUND MY DADDY'S PLACE..... ) to hunt for a week or so..........How far are you from Battle Creek ???????

Sackett Jr.

Those Sackett Jr. dogs seem to do real well crossed on that Joe House line of walkers. I have one here in my kennel that belongs to a good friend of mine that is a real coon dog, and he is trash free, and no he was not naturally straight. He is a real loud dog, and can be hunted with anything. He like most of the dogs I see run in the CB. or the American Cooner has Lipper as well as Hardwood Bozo on his mother's side. It seems that that was a cross that worked well on this line of dogs and it still is working. Dogs such as Nocturnal Fire,Fletcher's Jake, Master Latch, Sackett Jr's Son , Huff's Honey Creek Harry,Yadkin River Gunner,Tequila Sunrise,Silver Dollar Stone, Harwood Elvis Attack, Goose Creek Slugger, Rats Moonshine, just to name a few that all carry the blood of the Joe house walker line. I like the Blue Dog as a cooner ...............

I have heard bluetickers just plain tell me if it's blue they don't care if the dog can't even tree a coon . Seems most bluetickers just want a blue dog and could care less how good it is cuz they usually got a walker or know of one they can hunt with if they want to see a coon ..... even John Vaught.

I don't kow if I've ever met a blueticker who knows what a cull is . Bottom line is bluetickers have a different set of standards for blue dogs and it shows .

We have no different standards than you think you do. As far as me having this walker hound here ( HE IS A NICE DOG ) but he was trained along side of these blue dogs since he was 7 months old. He has the ability of these blue dogs for really looking for a coon not just a tree to tree on.

I could introduce you to a few who cull...as a matter of fact, I've culled two from my favorite line in the last year, and one of them I had people wanting to buy him.

But I don't sell culls. I try to do the right thing.

I am sure you have known some Bluetick men who were exactly like you say, but it is a mistake to make generalizations like that when you sure haven't met them all.

I don't think I know of a more ruthless culler in any breed than Gary Uchtman. They almost have to walk on water to stay at his place very long.

In my opinion, none of the breeds have been culled hard enough. The best producers in history really haven't been all that impressive when you think about it, except when you compare them to everything else.

You want to know about culling, you ought to have known some of the Gamefowl breeders I grew up around...those guys cull. And they have fairly consistent results, too.

I realize that breeding coonhounds is more complex than breeding fighting roosters, but the principle applies.
