Zone Reports
Bill Cavner; Zone 4; Aurora, MO; 53 pre-entered - Three no shows resulting in 50 entered. They will advance 8 to the Finals.
Lloyd Culpepper; Zone 6; Vicksburg, MS; 57 pre-entered - They selected all their judges and stuck them first then asked a young local boy to draw the rest of the entries (upsidedown) to the cards while the hunters watched. I like it! Hopefully, it made some positive impression on the boy to be asked to help Lloyd draw entries for the World Hunt. Make sure to give him a hat Lloyd. The Vicksburg area has seen rain for the past several days. Lloyd says it looks like they'll be gettin a little more tonight as well. Plan is to call casts around 6pm. 5 no shows. 52 confirmed. Vicksburg will also advance 8 to the Finals.
Tim Gilchrist; Alan Kalal; Zone 1; Nashua, IA; 99 pre-entered - Everything going nice and smooth. Got all the cards drawn and ready to call them out. Weather is beautiful. Projected middle 60's tonight. 8 no shows resulting in 91 confirmed. Nashua will advance 14.
David Gardin; Elba Neat; Zone 5; Decatur, TN; 2nd largest zone with 150 pre-entered - 12 no shows. Three of which were females just coming in season inspected by Reps. 138 confirmed and ready to be called out. David says they feel good about their judge selections tonight and are ready to roll. Decatur will advance 21. And for the record; no I did not tell anyone they would accept an entry after five due to traffic issues getting there.
Hate to hear anyone not making the deadline. But deadline is deadline. Even at the World Hunt.
Wendell Bond; Zone 3; Danville, VA; 116 pre-entered - Wendell has issues with cell reception. Gotta get on top 'o the hill to get er to work. Wendell confirmed 109 with 7 no shows. One fell victim to the deadline unfortunately. Hate to see the deadline knock someone out before they even get a chance. But again, deadline is deadline. Wonder why we don't have that same policy here at the office. If you;re late for work they send ya home?
Anyway, Danville will advance 17 with their third largest zone this year.
Larry Hawke; Doug Cundiff; Zone 2; Ashland, OH; The largest zone this year with 204 pre-entered - 14 no shows results in 190 in the woods on Friday night. Cundiff reported the club house is full of spectators and they've got a full house. They got everyone out utilizing only 9 non-hunting guides. Ashland will send 29 to Rogersville next week.
Bill Taylor; Zone 7; Madisonville, TX; 27 pre-entered - 25 confirmed with 2 no shows. Bill reported a little rain and drizzle in the area at the moment. No threats of hurricanes this year.
Madisonville will advance 4.
Dan Harskamp; Zone 8; Worland, WY; Held Labor Day Weekend with 11 pre-entered. 1 no show and confirmed 10 on Friday night. Dan said he really enjoyed the company of the hunters out west and that they had a pretty good time. Said Dean Carrol was a class act, good guy to work with and put all the dogs within ten miles of the grounds. The western zone advanced 2 dogs on to the Finals. Brady Harper of California and Greg Cover of Utah are already making their way out east for next weekend's Finals. Harper advanced his Blue hound Buster and Cover is in with a B&T he calls Cotton.
That's it folks. I'm gonna head to the house but will stay in contact with the Reps should they need anything. I wish everyone in the zones tonight the best of luck and may your picks become winners!
Thanks for posting that...night
