Trap bait

Anyone have a no fail bait for live traps? I usually use sardines, I've tried marshmallows with vanilla poured on them, plain marshmallows, apples, and apples and marshmallows together and I usually catch about 5 possums for every 1 coon I get. Just wondering what other people use.

I'm looking for something that is good in colder weather too, I have a young male I'm trying out and would like to see what he'll do, but I've been unable to get an opportunity to go for about the last month so I was thinking if I let one go I knew it would be a hot track for him.

Wet a couple of small marshmellows. Roll them in grape or strawberry coolaid. Throw one in back of trap and one in front of door. Works everytime. The smell doesnt attract cats or smileys but a coon will smell them from afar. Goodluck

The dog i'm trying is young, and by no means is he a $500.00 dog. I just have two that are just about there, and don't really want another one that's starting from complete scratch, however he does have some breeding that i'd like to have crossed with my females. Maybe I'm just letting myself be too optimistic too....

HE DONT MAKE A COON DOG. breed to a nother coon dog but see it in the woods with your eyes then you know your chance is better at getting good pups.good luck and have a good hunt when you go
