If I was you I would just go to bass pro and buy two Midland handheld marine radios. They are probly just as cheap as you can find a good pair of walkie talkies and plus you are getting more than just a two way radio in them.

I have some Midland walkie talkies that we use quite a bit. They can sure hold up to the wear and tear thats for sure. Range is good but not what I would sometimes like it to be!
I have a set of Motorolas they work great, especially if you want to drive around and then you can leave someone back in case a dog comes back, they also work well when driving in multiple vehicles hunting, and on casts.
Mine supposedly have a 4 to 6 mile range but reality is just over 1/2 a mile to 1 mile. I have never needed more than that anyway...

i use cobra marine, they have real good range and are small enuff to put in you pants pocket..
