Coon Bails

The other morning I was hunting before sun-up. My dog was treed for about an hour before I could get to her. Right when I got there, the coon bailed out of the tree, and of course the fight was on.

My question: If this was a competition hunt, how would that have been scored? Would I get to score that coon as treed?

The tree points should all count, and every effort made to get dog off of coon. What I really don't know is if the coon were mortally wounded, what then?Every time I've ever seen this, the coon and dogs were all able to walk away.

Minus tree points and plus strike points if he had to move to catch it. Bad break but that's what you do. If he was already fighting the coon when you got in there and could not prove he left a tree then delete tree and plus strike. You can not score a coon in a tree if the shine time had not yet began.

Well, that is a tough break, but doesn't seem to be much a person could do about that. If that's what the rules say, then so be it. Thanks for the info!

Had a similar problem when my dog tre'd 1st and 3 other dog's came into her. On the way to the tree about 30 ft off, the coon bail's and ran right passed us. My dog see's the bail and take's off after it. The other 3 dog's didnt and stayed tree'd. Suprisenly thier was another coon in the tree. LOL. So I got minused. And no strike point's.

Assuming the fight didn't happen right under the tree and the dog obviously didn't start treeing on another tree.Too many grey areas- he didn't say if he had a chance to shine the tree yet or not, and dogs don't have to be ON the wood to be treed.

They can't have a coon in their mouth.

If the tree time had been started and the coon is seen in the tree before it jumped, plus the tree. Walking in and it jumps, shine time is not started then strike points only.
