Stud Dog Hunt?

We are thinking about holding a nonlicensed hunt for stud dogs only. And wanna see if any stud dog owners would be willing to particapate . Hunt under UKC rules and half of entry fee will be paid back to top 4 cast winners. Spectators will be allowed on but limited in numbers on cast so people can see these great dogs go. Non hunting judges and guides. Details not worked out yet just see how much interest we have. Hunt will be central part of NC. Post reply if interested. Thanks.

that's a great idea. no better way for a stud to show himself than to compete with other studs. i want to go.

I think this would be a fun hunt. And yes we are looking to have when leaves or off.

Posted by Ryan.Hobbs on 07-04-2013 03:04 AM:

I think this is a very good idea. GRNTCH Hobbs Hardwood Freakshow HTX would come. Also, I would like to see more HTX titles on more dogs.

Instead of a stud dog hunt, why not a "Get of Sire" hunt where, the pups out of a dog hunt. How many "top hounds" produce quality? You're not getting the dog; you're getting what he reproduces. Tom

The SS is every 6 months!!!

You might pull a few but I bet the "BIG TIME" studs would not show up. You would pull the ones that are still being hunted and are younger studs that are still trying to prove themselves in the stud pen. With that being said it could boost the amount and quality of females brought to them. I would like to see it. Have a stud round and an offspring round. In order to hunt in the stud hunt a pup sired by that stud would have to be hunted in the pup round. Friday night pups are hunted and Saturday night studs are hunted.

We figured that the big names wouldn't do but this would be a great hunt for up and coming studs and a pup round sounds like a great ideal

If you do have this hunt I would love to come and hunt in it with Grnitech Treed Slammin Harry II

May do pre entries to make sure we have guides and judges for all cast. I'm gonna make this hunt happen. Will set a date and entry fees later.

Your contention is: the only dogs that reproduce quality hounds are in the SS?

Sun Makin History will be there ,just as long as we do this with no leaves ,and on game land, NOT FEEDER BUCKETS,,

The SS is a pup hunt for a fee you can hunt a pup and you get some money for winning.

Posted by houndsman19 on 07-06-2013 02:28 AM:

With a pup hunt on Friday to get your stud qualified to hunt Saturday would really give a young stud dog a chance to get his name out there and prove himself before he makes the reproducers list. If you can make this happen this hunt has a lot of potential to grow big. Good luck and I hope you guys can pull it off.

Posted by Dwils on 07-06-2013 04:07 AM:

I'd take part in this . But don't consider myself a "stud dog" owner. Plus location is key . I won't drive very far for a hunt like this . 4-5 hours tops

Hunt will be in central NC. And yes Gary no leaves and be hunting some of the same woods we hunt in tarheel jamboree so History can stretch them legs. Would like to see History and Chamber there. I know people want to see them two hounds go.
