Poor breeding = Poor results

the current list is proof of how poor the bluetick breed is when it comes to breeding for competition hunts. instead of breeding winners to winners most everyone breeds in cliques. when will somebody step outside the box and move this breed forward.

I remember when people breed their best coonhound to the best coonhound no matter what breed it was. those hide hunters wanted results that paid off. not many true houndsmen or coondogs left in this old world. i'm not a competition hunter but if I were I would be looking elsewhere for something to breed my female to.

the reproducers list only gives you results for dogs taken to the hunts. there are lots of people that have good hounds that don't ever go to a hunt. some like me hunt hogs, coon, and even bear with hounds. not that I have anything good but I do know the difference. just a thought out loud

When one breeds outside the box they get stuck with pups....if you ain't in a click good luck selling pups! This breed is nothing more than many clicks!

I also.recently read a thread about the female having more input than the male....tryta tell the stud ower that...lolz....but it's likely the rezn alotta studs are 10%....without the xtra good female theyd be lucky to throw 5%.

their best might be junk. Just because out of 4 dogs in backyard one is the best doesnt mean its even good.

There was only one Blue Hound that I know had over a 100 pups and was 18% or Better and not very many took advantage of him. Cliques, oh yea! Lot a good hounds never get breed because they breed to their buddies hound. Some have 10 to 15 litters or more and really nothing to show for it and yet they are still breeding them. Did this Blue Dog make the Hall of Fame, no and why not? CLIQUES !

I am not sure about my stance on this post? When i bred to a NT CH Dog or when I drive 1000miles in 17hr. i don't think i am doing it to be in a click! Now if a dog is getting good pups and i am interested in the breeding why shouldn't go to him? but I think the walkers have the biggest clicks Team mojo, Rat attack klean Whats up ( dock,jackfrank,bert fred, pam.jill, and on&on) I am going to go to Cross Breeds and start my oun click!! Love math so I worked equations for the 10 walkers mention on producing 8408 pups 905 were titled that's 9.290%

Then the 10 blue dogs 1988 pups produced 182 titled 10.923%

Sir, the blueticks only have 2 dogs above 10 percent. Most on the list are way too low to even be mentioned in my opinion. I don't mean to upset anybody but if a dog has over 200 pups and is only 7 percent that's bad. You would figure they would have figured that out at 100 pups. Do any of you consider a litter of 10 pups and only 1 makes it success?

Don't know either I was just pointing out when all combined it was really close the only way this list is accurate is to have every pup you sell be put into comp hunts and that ant going to happen for any stud dog because I would say around me that less than 10% of hunters comp hunt most just pleasure hunt so if you sell 10 pups your lucky if 2 or 3 go to a comp hunter

Just cause a male or even his pups can win at the hunts doesn't mean I or the next fellow wants to breed to it.
to think everyone needs to breed to them is very narrow minded thinking. just what is it that you think will be gained by breeding to dog because it is a winner anyway?

I think the real answer to the problem lays At the heel of it's trustee's, us. Most Bluetick breeder's/hunters that run the comp. Hunts either don't know what it really takes to win at the next level or they just are unwilling to make a change, so it leaves us with a few one hit wonders, they go and have a good weekend at the world hunt, and all of a sudden they are the next big thing, They get some females brought to them, to which the stud owner knows little or nothing about and we have a litter of future world champs, they go on this massage board for around 500.00 bucks and 18 months later back on for sale 500.00 bucks.
All blue RQE, pathetic, we don't have the dog power to get enough qualified at just an open rqe so they manufacturer a way to get some in, for one side it's all about money so they don't care, the other side is just grasping for straws, If we are truly interested in developing a blue hide that can really get it done on the big stage's then find the few we have in our breed and put them together, it would be a great place to start, otherwise it's a long row with a short paddle.......Gerald

Pam Johnson, there is a reason that some dogs win more than others and it's usually because they have more ability. Not just a male that has ability but a female too. Your chances for getting better quality is greater when both dogs have the right ability. Why would anyone want to breed a quality female to a dud male dog or vise versa. It cost the same to raise higher probability pups as it does the well maybe's.
