I havent

found anything.. I have switched a couple times due to haveing to drive a little ways and keep finding my self to be driving a lil ways everytime i try a diff feed. But theres not much to choose from around here. What walmart sells southren states maybe diamond and of course black gold.. Im sure there might be a better or something close to it but i dont think its around me..

Hi-Standard's 26-18 will hold its own, it also has Omega 3 and 6 which Black Gold is lacking.

Diamond adult is in a green and yellow bag is the same blend as the black gold black bag its sold at almost all farm stores.

Mizzou,
We are in NE missouri where do you get the hi-standard and what are you paying a 50# bag?

Posted by Casey Hatfield on 01-28-2010 05:48 PM:

I go to the local feed store and get Premium Gold 26-18. I think it's made by a company in Alabama.Gotta get a bag this evening so I'll look.I changed over 4 years ago to it from Black Gold.My dogs are slick and do real good on it.Don't have to feed alot of it and they have strong stool and good muscle.Runs around $20 a 50# bag.Tried Purina Hi-Pro to collect the points after I raised a litter and fed Puppy Chow.Changed back after 1 bag.

I used to live there. IMO you need to call Earl Vet and Supply in Columbia MO. they have a truck that goes to Kirksville every two weeks and they carry the Ultra 24/20 chicken and rice. It was great food and they bring it up for free.

Dog Food thats claiming to have Omega 3and 6 is just a sales pitch..the ingrediants may contain it,but after processing at high heat it kills it.

Do some research and you will find out what i'm saying is true.

We have swapped over to Enhanced dog food and really like it. Now much stool clean up and you don't have to feed very much.

I order directly from Hi-Standard, I ususally get around 3-5 tons per order. I am paying $18.50 for the 26-18 and 24-20. Give them a call and I am sure they will have someone close to you, or you might want to order direct from them. 866-357-3335

Black Gold is really good feed that's why we have feed it for almost 10 years, but the cost is getting out of hand. Looking for a rational choice

Thanks

Hasnt anyone tried the sport mix dogfood? There isnt much around here ive been thinking of trying that. The dimond and black gold around here is outrageous.

Im like you guys there isnt a dog food out there that compares to black gold.I used Pzazz dog food for a while and it was about as close to black gold quality as i could find. The price kept jacking up and i went to rex dog food. The last bag of pzazz i bought i think i paid $24 a bag for.The premium rex dog food is $18.50 and the maintenance is $17.50,i dont see much difference in either one.The stool is a little sloppy but it does a decent job.

The Pzazz you get around here was pretty sory. I was on it for a while. I fed 10 sacks and my dogs lost there shine and craped like cows. I went back to the Diamond High Energy for 18.50 for 50 lb. 4 cups keeps my 80 - 90 lb. dogs in good shape hunting them pretty hard 3 nights a weak.

I'm curious to why nobody seems to use PURINA? Don't you guys like it? If you answer no, why? We fed JOY or SPORTSMANS PRIDE for a while but about 5 years ago my hounds started turning their noses to JOY and SPORTSMANS PRIDE was hard to come by so I went back to PURINA ONE and the dogs love it and seem to do really good on it. I tried DIAMOND HIGH ENERGY and the hounds liked it but HOLY COW PATTY!! My hounds also seemed to heat up really fast in the warm season too and I was told it was due to the high fat content in the HIGH ENERGY, went back to purina and no problems and they look great. To each their own I just wanted to hear some pro's or con.

I think it is way over priced. I feed mine 4 cups a day and the cow patty isn't that big.
