young and talented

Okay guys how many of you have owned or seen a 15-16 month old dog that was a natural? Quick, accurate, independent, on thrir own track and tree, stay put when it looks up, and most importantly, consistent? Now just imagine you own that type now and it is superstakef and performanced paid up, what would you ask if you sold the dog? This type of hound is extremely rare.

I completely agree with John.Anybody,in their right mind, would never sell that type of hound for the simple reason that "This just may be the hound I've always dreamed about". Nuff said.

Money talks. If the right people find out about a dog anything is for sale!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

What you wanting to sell?

If i read that ad the first thing i would figure if the guy lived in OH. is that dog was 7-8-9- Mos. old during coon season and then came winter, so he hasnt had enough huntin to be what the guy is claiming. Maybe im old school but i still figure it takes a couple years and a couple hundred coon to build a COONDOG that will make me reach deep to own.

Depends on the breed. If its a Walker dog , its a little behind schedule. I have seen a several that was that way at 11- 14 months old.

I've had two.
One was stolen at a year old.
Only a chosen few ever got to see the other one.
If I find another , nobody will see that one either.
And it WON'T be for sale !

Anything can be bought. I always say every thing I have is for sale except my wife and you can have her. If I had it I would sell it. I would price it at 6 or 8 grand and go from their.

I had one 5 years ago here doing that at 10 months. ready for the hunts, do it every night. tree coon after coon. got offered 3, 5, 8k for her when I was pushing her to Grand. She actually taught me more about the hunts than I taught her. She made Grand before she was 3, and probably should have been there before 2 if I knew what I know now. Won big hunts, made it to the zones, won all kinds of casts with her.

...she's 6 now and she is still here! bred her and have a nice young one out of her now that I am pushing. Unless you really need the money or can't do the dog justice in the woods (250-300 nites a year) it shouldn't be for sale!

Okay so we have a young talented dog that is doing it on a nightly basis. Now the next step is to see if the dog can do it with 3 other dogs beside it. Alot of dogs I would say fold under the pressure of 3 barking hounds all around it especially at 14-15 months old.

Now to take that step and throw the dog in its first several hunts and dominate most of the casts your in. Would that make the price increase if you owned it?

It all depends on how bad I needed the money I guess. I look at several different things when pricing one. Its hard to price a dog without hunting with it first.

Hey Hoosier Man1 I got me one of the early start pups was runnin and treeing squirrels at young age 5-6mos, 11mo now turned loose two drops last night first not so good, second drop pup byhimself stuck about 150yrds out worked the track around 300 drove down the road within 160yrd's he located finally settled walked in with the monkey,he had a den covered in vines treed good pulled vines tied him back don't want that habit vine chewing started. pup is independent, good strike moves a track usually well, rough in this dry weather though. seen dogs split on both sides of him he worked a track in between these dogs went and check both trees sent them on and he still paid them no mind ended up with the coon some 30yrds where one dog was treed. Best hang on to them, like somone said may be the world beater of a life time.Good luck with your pup!!

Hoosier. I really think he's worth a lot more to you than what he will really bring. 2500 is what I actually think he may bring. Maybe 3. He'd have to prove he was the real deal to somebody for a week at that. He would bring more if anybody knew you or knew you had money or you always were on here talking your stuff up and making threads about e or out of the flavor of the month stud dog.. You ain't did that or got that so you will have to sell to the plain feller cheaper. That's just how it is
