Garmin Collar VS Dogtra Collar

I have had the Alpha 100 system for some time. My only complaint is that the collars don't seem to last long due to the connecting wire from the GPS receiver breaking. Do the Dogtra collars have this problem.

Preacher Tom. The new garmin collars have been reworked to hopefully solve that problem. Compare a new one with an older one and you can see the difference in the rubber strap and wire.

We have replacement GPS antennas to fix collars with this issue. It is a better design than original. I will PM you later with the cost.

Preacher Tom what we do is fix your collar with a replacement GPS antenna and wire along with a new section that is nylon that replaces the rubber that tore. The procedure is to send the collar to us. We repair it (few days) then call you for Payment info and mail your collar back to you. The cost is $100 and that includes the shipping back to you.

I can't see any visible damage but I have done a reset and update and it still looses connection. Can be 50 yards or 700. I think this has to be the problem. I will send it to you. Thanks.

Thats a different problem. When the wire beaks and renders the GPS antenna useless. That is determined by the way your collar lights blind. If they only single flash. That means the GPS antenna circuit is bad. It they start triple flashing buy you have a loss of contact with the collar. Thats a different issue. Checkin out the VHF antenna on both the collar and handheld is a good thing to do. Could just be a corroded contact on the collar antenna. Garmin will replace that collar with another one if it is out of warranty for $150.
