Gunner kennels

Hey y’all, has anyone ever used a Gunner kennel to transport their hound? I’m just getting into coon hunting and have a 5 month old Bluetick pup. I’ve heard good things about the Gunner kennel as far as safety for dogs. What do y’all think of them? What size kennel do you have and how big is your dog? I’ve heard of some issues with dogs not fitting the recommend size kennels.

Wow, before I'd spend that kind of money on a plastic box, I'd check out the Easyloader.. I've had one on my SxS for three years now and got no complaints.

Thanks for the advice, I’ll check those out. Do the Easyloaders have a good amount of airflow? I live in Florida so it’s hot most of the year

They offer a vent kit you can install yourself. I put two on each side and two in back, six total.

Honestly if I was going to use a plastic crate/kennel is just go buy a pet porter from Wal-Mart or TSC. Only difference I can tell is the shape and the door. But you can buy 3-4 cheap kennels that will last longer for that kind of $$. Jmho though

I thought about doing that. Most of the guys at coon hunting club have aluminum dog boxes. It seems the good aluminum ones are pretty expensive too, I’d bet they offer more protection for your dog though. What kind do you use?

I have 2 Owens boxes. One is a single dog, the other is a double dog. I had an f&t furtrader dog box. It was a rigging style box, carpet on the top. I liked it but it didn't last long enough for the $ spent on it. But my wife has just the pet porter style for her bird dog, and her parents have the pet porters for third bird dogs. If they get broke its not the end of the world. But they make covers for cold temps for that style, the dogs get plenty of air movement, they're light so easy to load by yourself. But I like my Owens boxes, both are summertime boxes, I put straw in for bedding, but they make mats for about any box made.

Those sounds pretty good, I’m going to look into the Owens boxes. Thanks!
