-- Toxic Feed ? (http://forums.ukcdogs.com/showthread.php?threadid=928494023)

Toxic Feed ?

I lost my 3yr old Plott male last week. He was
Very healthy and active Thursday morning. Had
Been drinking normally and eating good and showed no signs of illness.
Wife calls me out of the field around 7:00 and tells me he is laying
Dead in the back yard. Nothing in his throat or sign of fighting with my other dog. It looks like he just layed down and died. My guestion is, have any of y'all had dogs that were killed by toxic dog food ? I didn't have a autopsy done cause it wouldn't bring him back but I guess in hindsight if it was the feed, it could possibly save my other dogs. Just courious if anybody else has encountered this and the feed was confirmed to be the culprit.

.

I had the same thing happen one time to a young healthy pup. Played with him in the morning at 7am and dead by 10am. Not sure what ever happened to him.

Definantly considered twisted gut. Not blaming feed. Just wondering how prevalent tainted feed factors in to some unexplained deaths. Just sucks that it's always the better dogs that go down !

If it was a twisted gut you would have seen signs. Sometimes they just die of a hart attack or anurisam just like people. You never know what morning you aren't going to wake up.

x2, twisted gut will bring on cardiac arrest, heart attack.I lost a good one to it at 5 years old. Did everything I knew to try and save him before rushing to vet.

Maybe kidney failure! If his feed was toxic, it would have most likely killed all your dogs. Regardless, that sucks! Sorry for your loss.

Thanks guys.
I would rather have one hit on the road or fall out of a tree and know what killed him than to wonder what killed him in the yard. It is what it is, I suppose. Thanks again !
