DC 30 charging light

My DC 30 charging light doesn't seem to be turning off even after a night on the plug. Is the battery going bad?

Here is what I would do.

I would take it off the charger and turn on the handheld and collar and get them hooked up. I would then go to the information page for the collar. If the collar battery only showing one or two bars that is a sign it is not taking a charge and may need replacing. You can always try unplugging the battery and waiting a few minutes and plug it back in as that works sometimes. Most of them batteries are pretty old now. Like Chew said the charging contacts also might need to be cleaned.

Thanks guys. Bruce, after charging it does show that the charge is full on the handheld.

I will get it cleaned up really good and see fi that makes a difference. It still holds a charge for a few hunts like 5-10 hours. I am sure they are pretty old batteries. I had a junk collar I took apart to see how hard it was to replace and it seems not too bad so maybe that is an option.

Ron let me say what I would do. I would run an actual function test on it. It should run 17 hours of full charge if your on the 5 second setting which was factory setting.

Charge it up and turn in on and put it by the window so the gps will pick up and it is double flashing or triple flashing. Do that about supper time. When you get up in the morning see if it is still on. Maybe do it on a day that you will be around and check it every hour or so and determine when if goes off. You can also check the battery life on the handheld when you get up in the morning and see what is is showing. If it is just a flaw in the charging circuit and it is working I wouldn't worry about it with one exception. I would put it on charge and leave it charging for several days. Plug it in and let it charge for a few hours or overnight at most.

Sorry I confused you. What I am trying to say. If there is something wrong with the charging circuit and you put it on the charger and leave it on. It will overheat and shorten the battery over all life. In other words, burn your battery up.

Since the auto circuit isn't working they you have to plug it in and unplug it to protect the battery. I think it was chew that said it but I would look close at both the contacts on the collar and the charging clip. Sometimes the clip has has issue also. I can't remember all these contact operations and too lazy right now to go get one but some of the have spring loaded contacts. Make sure they are all making contact.
