What level to you shock on with alpha?

I know every dog is different but for the most part what level do yall use to shock and tone?

Medium 4-5 for shock, tone on highest level
Levels for shock range imensely, the one im huntin now i think ive shocked him twice in the almost 2 years ive owned him but it was on medium4/5, ive owned ones that didnt respond to nothin but high 6 also, might be another indication why i aint feedin them anymore either

I've had mine cranked all the way out. Others it would seem like all u had to do was tone them.
Typically there is a sweet spot with every dog. May be 1 for one dog and 11 for another .
I always start low and climb till I get the desired result.

Each dog is different. That is why you should condition a dog to e-collars. The conditioning will tell you what level to use.

I broke a dog from running deer with only level 3, and it only took 3-4 times.

I think everyone that uses an e-collar should attend a collar clinic. It helps a lot with knowing what to do and when.

Please remember when we compare numbers on an ALPHA that there are two different setups. One Traditional and one Linear.

5 on Linear is mild while a 5 on Traditional is strong.

So if your getting information on what number to use it is always important to know which setup your using.

I think if your doing it right you can throw the numbers out the window and let the dog give you the answer on what number you need for him. Let me explain why I say this.

There are several variables to this that need to be taken into consideration.

We all don't put a dog collar on the same. Some put them tight and some loose. That changes the intensity.
Dogs have a lot of different skin textures in the neck area. Some not much hair and others a lot. This makes a difference.
Last but not least is your dogs resistance. Some need more to respond than others.

Why do you think some of the bird dog people have used systems that have many different ranges of stimulation while the hound hunters have mainly had 3 or 6.
Thats a good question to try and dig into that will give you some insight on better using your system.
