Off Ground Kennel Help
WHAT SIZE OF RUN SHOULD BE BUILT
I built mine with 4 5x10 runs.
Jeremy is built mine 3 ft wide and 5 long with houses on outside. I love them. ONLY THING TO BE SURE AND DO IS put you a slope piece under it to make clean up easier. I wish I would have. Tell the John Smith gang hello

I built a 16 by 32 wooden platform. I bought the pig panels from Tractor supply an used them as the sides and the dividers. Worked out great. The panels are only like $20.00 each. That gave me two 8 by 16 lots and one 16 by 16 for gyps and pups. I also built gates in between mine so I can also open it all up and let them run together or if I down size one dog will have a bigger lot.

i've looked at the option of above ground kennels but i dont have running water at my kennels at this time so i dont think it would due to keeping clean. anybody have this issue and what have you tried besides running water to kennel. thanks
Mine are 4ftx8ft and 3 ft off the ground.I use a pitch fork under them about once a week.Very easy and no smell.Where I live it's flat ground that stays wet so this setup keeps the dogs high and dry.
quote:Although there are many benefits with off ground pens,, my whole intended purpose for using off ground pens is that they are self cleaning. the crap and urine falls between the 1 3/4" gaped floor rails to the ground so the dog does not have to walk in it.. I will never understand why anyone would build them with a solid floor. my design has worked very well for me for close to 40 yrs now.
