What's some things u guys do to help a dog that's loosing
his voice.

A no bark collar & a round of predizone , leave dog layed up for week or 2 . Some if bad may require shot then longer or 2nd round of steriods vet will sometimes give a good anti-inflamatory like Remidyl & antibiotics if infection is present in throat too...the biggest mistake guys sometimes make is starting treatment , the they sound better and go back to hunting half the night right off the bat.
I sold a pup while back & guy let him bark completely out , started treatment pup getting it back & went back to hunting him before healed -back to square one.
I got this pup back had to treat him for 6 wks & left him layed up w/ no bark collar on . Took him for 1 dump sounded pretty good....brought him home, waited another week took him again sounded great ! No further problems.Most don't take this long & I'm lucky he didn't have permanent damage to his vocal cords or that polyps or scar tissue hadn't developed on them.

I just bought a Dog that a Guy left him Treeing the House cats all day wile he left for work, got home dog still treed but no voice. I bought him because of breeding. Got him in the basement in pet porter and get him couple times a day. Was wondering what Mg of Prednisone you gave? Was it in pill form? How did you give it? In water or wrap in meat?

I got a shot of steriods then gave the predizone pills along w/ the Remidyl for the inflamation don't have the empty bottles to see what mg was I know on the predizone it's a higher dosage at first (more pills)then tapered down toward end....you can cut hot dog into slices in stick pills into it . I usually just open their mouth & stick pills down the throat . Good luck with your pup

The best luck I've had is PREDISONE.
10 days 1 tablet each day.
5 days 1/2 tablet each day.
5 days 1/4 tablet each day.
Always do the complete treatment, even if their voice improves before you finish the 20 day treatment.
You usually can get it from a vet. It is a steroid, not very expensive.
I have had good luck with it.

I took him to the Vet today and had him checked out, No polyps , very little redness in dogs throat, doesn't believe there's any scaring or permanent damage. Got a scrip for Prednisone, 25mg for 10 days then 12.5mg for 6 days.
